Too bad they couldn't stop a 50 yard touchdown pass on 4th and 13 with a minute left in the game against the Packers. Last game of the season. Winner goes to the playoffs. Bears had the game won, and the defense gave up a desperation pass to Randall Cobb.

There's more to pass protection than not allowing sacks.

Pass Blocking Efficiency - 5th worst

Hurries Allowed - 4th worst

Total Pressure Allowed - 6th worst

Jay Cutler's attitude and lack of give a shite is destroying the team more so than anything else on the field.

It's pretty obvious he's not the only one on that team that doesn't give a shite

Yes, his attitude and demeanor is why the defense gave up 50 points in two straight games.

I've watched him since the Vandy days, and I can't defend a lot of his play anymore. I just can't. That said, he's a ridiculous scapegoat for a fricked up team. They had one foot in the door for the playoffs last year and defense fricked it up. He never should have left Denver. Chicago was a terrible fit. There's a reason Chicago hasn't had a single notable quarterback success since Jim McMahon.

Aside from his strange antics, even he's not notable except the fact that he happened to stay out of the way on a team carried by the best D of all time. Sid Luckman was probably their last great QB

Even his teammates are sticking up for him.

A pair of accomplished and respected Chicago Bears players told ESPNChicago.com on Wednesday night that a portion of the locker room feels "confused and uncomfortable" over how coach Marc Trestman handled Jay Cutler's benching compared to the minor discipline offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer received last week.

quote:

But while noting that a faction of Cutler detractors exists inside Halas Hall, the general belief is that the respective punishments for Cutler and Kromer are gravely inconsistent, after the Bears offensive coordinator received "basically a slap on the wrist" for his public indiscretions when he tearfully revealed in a team meeting Dec. 8 that he was the anonymous source cited in a published NFL Media report that was highly critical of the quarterback.

quote:

This further magnifies the distrust between Trestman and the locker room, an ongoing issue during much of the Bears' disappointing 5-9 season, according to the players.

There will be a presser today after practice.

Stay tuned MSB.

There. Fixed. You make a fair point.

I hope for your sake, though, that you're not a Cutler apologist.

Thanks for the concern. I'm not a huge fan, though. I want a little more fire from my QB.

But jay sucks because he has a bad defense?
Well, considering he has one of the worst defenses in the NFL and constantly has to play from behind, I'd say that does contribute to his bad play. The Chicago Bears couldn't block someone on facebook, and you expect them to be able to block a defensive line when the defense KNOWS a pass is coming?

Jay Cutler's demeanor may present him as not caring, but he has still been out there taking hits and playing his arse off. The season is done, finished, for them. And I don't care how many weapons you have outside. If you don't give your quarterback breathing room, he won't be successful. Very few can do that type of thing.

Cards just paid Palmer so I don't think they'll pursue Cutler. The first team that popped into my head was the Redskins, but I still believe Cutler will be the Bears' starting QB next season.

You sound like someone whos only watched the bears play against NO. Its an average line, and jay was pretty bad last year when the line played well. The bears have more talent along the oline than GB, the big difference is
whos directing behind them.

Which is why, to me, the first half scoring avg is a good indicator of how bad cutler is in the offense.

See my earlier post on this topic. They did not play well last year. Bottom 5 pass protection.
