Because i would rather talk about our team or potential future moves than go back over and over and over moves that have already been made.

As would any pleasant/pragmatic person.

Nobody is stopping you.

The vast majority of pleasant/pragmatic persons are not going to be overly concerned about it. While you may think it's in the past, the moves are indicative of the present, as the current front office made those moves and it speaks to their ability to evaluate talent and the roster.

Im not arguing that the moves are "indicative" of the present. But discussing alternatives to moves that already happened is a dumb/pointless topic. And I'd be ok with it if others didnt use it as a way to cast negativity on our situation/team at every turn.

That's just noise. The same type of noise as people pointing to the first 20 games of a career as proof of anything. Each team wanted something different from the trade and each team has different expectations in the aftermath of the trade.

It's worth talking about, to me, because it is a legitimately interesting move. And that's before talking about the other big moves they made and what appears, to me, to be stylistic differences between the GM and the coach.

I was about to post something last night about Payton and Noel.

I know they are young but Payton is in the midst of AR'ish rookie year.

6.4ppg on 36.4 FG%, 23 3pt% and 46 FT%

not too hot.

Everyone knew Payton would struggle scoring the ball early on. He was going to hang his hat on doing the little things, which he has done through 28 games into his career and playing 24 minutes a night. He is top 10 amongst PGs in REB per 48, STL per 48, 15th in AST per 48.

As for Noel, people shite on him for so long here once we traded him. He went from being the next big thing for about 10 minutes to being a role playing bench guy He is 20 years old and has played 21 games. He has actually played pretty well if anyone would actually watch 6er games.

I suppose. I guess its just a philosophy thing. People who whine about the past, rarely have success in the future.

I've been watching this gif all morning. I can't figure out why he did that. Did he think someone was behind him to contest the layup? I need answers.

Vasquez was top 10 in REB and top 3 in assists. Just saying.

Per 48 min? I dont think. He was playing 35 mpg. His numbers added up. Still, he was 26 and it took him a few years

Would've been impressive 30 games into his career yes?

I'd bet he was, but I'm not wasting time to track it down.

In a vacuum, yes. In the context of being bad at everything else, not so much.

So you're comfortable labeling payton and noel as NBA role players 30 games into their rookie years?

You don't think that's an absurd statement to make at this juncture?

Like I said, I know its super early and none of that is definitive. my point is those guys have a long way to go and my preference is to be where we are right now as opposed to hoping these young guys develop.

why would anyone want to do that?

people are acting like Brandon Jennings was the only point guard we could have gotten what about Brandon Knight what about keeping Greivis Vasquez

Come one now... I loved the guy while he was here but hes a back up PG in the league not a starter. Defensively he would be shredded on nightly basis by the PG's in the west.

I'd say he's padding stats on a bad team. meh assist rate, not good turnover rate, bad assist to turnover ratio (3:2)

Greivis Vasquez

Vasquez is where he's supposed to be, backup PG on a playoff team. You don't want him as your starter crippling your defense.

The only guy that was available at the time that has really impressed since is Jeff Teague. Atlanta matched so they wanted to keep him, but if you could have done a S&T for the rights to Noel or whatever Noel could get you, then you're better off. You have enough money to keep Vasquez as a backup and get Tyreke (still have to give up Lopez), and you get your 2014 pick. But like I said, Atlanta matched and they were trying to reload not rebuild, so they may not have even been interested.

Idk why people like to narrow it down to one scenario when there were plenty of options on the table. For example, they could've elected to not sign anyone, punt on 2013-14, and use that money this summer.

Now, the pressure from ownership made that exact scenario unlikely, but there's no need to focus on Jennings, Payton, and Noel when so much more was on the table.

I think that is the most important factor in this. Doesn't sound like Dell was afforded the luxury of patience.

We needed to upgrade Greivis, but I wish we hadn't made the subsequent Evans trade. Vasquez would have been nice to have as the first guard off the bench.
