hyperbole to be sure but are you saying Jordan wasn't better than Kobe?

Someone on reddit made a good point. Reggie Miller's legacy benefits from MJ being an untouchable god of basketball. He never won a title largely because of Michael.

Kobe beat Miller's team in the finals before. Jordan's Bulls beat the Pacers once in the playoffs during their career, in an ECF

I'm surprised Jordan never beat Miller in the Finals...

A lot of times, I see things that you post and think to myself, "man, Lester's got a good point. He's pretty level headed and has good logic."

This is not one of those times.

what am i missing?

Jordan knocked miller out the playoffs once. How did Miller miss out on titles because of Jordan? He couldnt beat the other teams in the east

Reggie is exaggerating big time here. Sure Jordan is better than Kobe, but you telling me you're gonna take Wizards Jordan over prime Kobe? Cmon Reggie

I think we're talking age matched stars implicitly here. Not old Jordan vs prime Kobe or 40 years from now when Jordan is dead and Kobe can still play horse. I may have also missed the point LE made about losing in the Finals. We're talking the 2000 Lakers team with an unstoppable Shaq that averaged close to 40 points and around 15 boards in teh finals. That team might have beaten anyone on the strength of peak Shaq alone - and seeing what Shaq did to his team might also be why Miller thinks of Kobe as a second

Up against a team without an unstoppable player the Pacers would have had a good puncher's chance.

I wouldn't go that far...I would lean more toward "never won a title largely because he played on about three teams capable of winning it all in 18 years"...and you could make the case that only the 03/04 team had a real shot to begin with.

No, the 2000 team was loaded and is regarded as one of the best teams not to win a title.

Meh...you could make a list of the "best teams not to win a title" in the past two decades and neither the 98 or 00 team would make the top 5 in most lists. Sonics, Thunder, Magic, Suns, Jazz, Kings, Pistons all had better teams.

I like Miller. Sad to see the jealousy run through him like this.

Jordan never shot above 54% during his career, let alone 59% as a rookie. Also, Kobe's MVP season wasn't even close to his best year when you consider his overall game (not just stats and efficiency, but defense).

I think Reggie's opinion has less to do with stats and more to do with fighting. Jordan gave him the bidness a little more than Kobe

Miller is just mad because his elite career was overlooked by many who only refer to MJ when mentioning 90s NBA basketball.
