But to say approval ratings don't matter is BS. The midterms was a direct reaction to Obama getting his way.

You still aren't getting what the OP was saying. Obama was able to successfully push through much more than got stopped.

My God... the man was able to push through the largest power grab for the federal government since Wickard v. Filburn. Name another President in your lifetime that's done that much.

He's now a lame duck. Do you think he gives two swinging shits about his approval ratings any longer? The answer is "no". He's not a party-first guy, he's a me-first guy.

Power grab? In 2008 America was going to vote for the farthest opposite of Bush and Cheney, which was Democrats and a black president. While the democrats held the House, Senate, and Presidency yet they never passed a budget together LOL. Also, in 2014, Republicans gained 246 House seats, the most since President Truman. LANDSLIDE after only 6 years of Obummer LOL!

Power grab?

Go back and look at Wickard v. Filburn and see how Congress used that ruling to expand their power then equate that ruling to the ACA. With the way the ACA is written, pretty much anything that could possibly effect your health could eventually be legislated. If that's not a power grab, I don't know what is.

That was by their own design. They didn't WANT to pass a budget because they could spend more by pushing through CR's (especially after the Stimulus abomination).

And how has that diminished the passing of the ACA. Has it been repealed? No, the most that's happened is talk of defunding it in order to CHANGE -not REPEAL- it. Within the past week all of the appointments the President wanted were approved. All of them.

This isn't to say that Obama will escape unscathed before he finally leaves office, but at this point in his Presidency he's been able to accomplish a lot more than many other Presidents.

Meh, Clinton and Reagan are two "great" presidents that didn't have an event like that.

I agree with this statement. I mean, under his watch the country has managed to:

- Create a gigantic race wedge to divide the country
- Free millions of americans from the burden of "job lock" by decreasing the employment participation rate by 6%
- Sign up more people for means-tested government assistance (not counting healthcare) than have full time jobs
- Increase the black unemployment rate by 10%
- Continue the erosion of the middle class

I guess my favorite part is that he managed to out-bush bush in his expansion of government power. Pretty solid work in my opinion.

But hey, Wall Street Bankers and University Professors have never had it so good relative to the rest of the population....so it's all good.
