The chart doesn't include 2014.

This graph just makes me angry thinking about what LSU could accomplish if we didn't lose eleventy billion underclassmen to the draft every season.

Boise, Wisocnsin, TCU, and Oregon are how far from the line LSU wants to be.

With the same recruiting though. We couldnt fit on this graph if that were so.

1a. Missouri (3 10-win Seasons, 2 SECe Titles)
1b. Vanderbilt (James Franklin)
3a. Alabama (Hard to overachieve when you have 7 straight #1 classes)
3b. South Carolina (3 11-win seasons, 1 SECe Titles)
5a. Mississippi State (Average SEC team with Average Recruiting Ranks)
5b. LSU (4 10-win Seasons, 1 SEC Title, 1 NC appearance, Trails only Bama, Oregon, and Stanford for total results)
7. aTm (3 9-win Seasons)
8. Arkansas (Fired a Coach)
9. Georgia
10. Florida (Fired a Coach)
11. Auburn (Fired a Coach)
12. Kentucky (Fired a Coach)
13. Ole Miss (Fired a Coach)
14. Tennessee (Fired a Coach)

Table 1 gives an exact number -- the Diff -- for the Aggregate on-field and recruiting ratings, so I don't think the letters are necessary.

quote:

A negative "Diff" means teams "underperformed" their recruiting. A positive "Diff" means they "outperformed" their recruiting.

1. Missouri (6.1)
2. Vanderbilt (5)
3. Alabama (1.2)
4. South Carolina (0.4)
5. Mississippi St. (-0.3)
6. LSU (-2.8)
7. Texas A&M (-3.1)
8. Arkansas (-7.1)
9. Georgia (-16)
10. Auburn (-17.6)
11. Florida (-20.3)
12. Kentucky (-25.8)
13. Mississippi (-30.3)
14. Tennessee (-40.4)

Miles is a good recruiter but cant coach players up and we underperform!

Oh give me a break. This graph isnt the only measure of success, and there's still a lot to take into consideration. Put your shorts back on.

Correct me if I'm wrong..

But Bama having #1 recruiting classes like the last 7 years and only having 3 championships is actually underachieving..

AMIRITE?!

Exactly lol. I posed this question on the SEC Rant earlier this year. These guys are ridiculously loaded every single year, yet still seems to lose or struggle with some teams. LSU's best class ever pulled in 4 5 stars last year, Bama still figured out a way to pull in 6. LSU's pretty youthful class took a more talented and more experienced Bama team to the edge of defeat, only losing because of a penalty by Vadal.

Didn't JC Copeland also essentially lose the game for us twice?

while it's true we probably play bama better than anyone else although AU has caught up, we still have some disappointing losses to other teams.

which is funny bc if you look at the graph, every loss bama ever has recently is a dissappointing one they shouldn't have lost.

Recruiting is good and could be better if we would take care of LA. first. We have herd from THE PLAYERS that in the past after they'd commit would very seldom hear from LSU, We have herd that the North Louisiana kids feel underappreciated by Miles and his staff. EXAM; We lost out on Denzell Devall, Cam Robinson, Hootie Jones and everybody said it doesn't matter cause we pulled someone just as good or better from another state. IT does matter cause now the top prospect for 2016 is DL Rashard Lawerance and D Devall is telling him go to Bama and he and C Robinson and Hootie J will be there for him ECT ECT . Recruiting will and CAN be BETTER if we take Care of LOUISIANA FIRST. How many times do we hear from a kid that's been in contact with Fla, Bama, Auburn and they say they are waiting for to hear LSU.LAST YEAR was a great class but we lost 40% of the top 12 in OUR OWN STATE, that is already coming back to HAUNT US. HIGHEST PAID COACHING STAFF IN THE COUNTRY SHOULD BE THE HARDEST WORKING STAFF IN THE COUNTRY.

First off , the hurricanes left this state way down. We had to go out of state. 2nd we trade duvall for kwon and hootie for Adams. We missed out on cam rob and that was huge. Also we don't have the highest paid staff in the country, and Alabama's recruiting budget dwarfs ours.

Oh and a coach got fired basically because he got lazy.

Let's not forget we were under the microscope for the DJ marctney deal, he got fired, and the will Lyle's shite.

Its funny that literally the only one more successful is Bama

Oregon? Stanford? Looks like both are higher in whatever performance on the field metric he's using. I assume he's using average ranking.

So, clearly Miles' detractors must be wrong. Since Alabama is not our competition and sports teams are not measured against their competition, how we perform relative to Alabama doesn't matter. Thank goodness for that.

Yes outplay their recruiting rankings but the understanding is that oregon and Stanford have dominated that conf with little comp since the fall of USC.

This makes me actually at the Miles detractors. It PROVES two things: that they are wrong when they say that he under uses or under develops talent, and that they are clearly Bamasessed.

Yes Miles has done some great things at LSU.

But LSU was 4-4 in the SEC this year...5-3 last year....so I guess if he goes 3-5 next year you'll say Mile's detractors are idiots b/c Miles did so well in 2007, right?

Tulane

Their Aggregate Diff rating is 5 spots behind LSU's.

Their underperformed Diff is 1.4 points behind LSU's.

The process for determining the Aggregate definitely favors teams that don't recruit as well because they have more room to outperform their recruiting ratings. But, right outside the 2009-2013 time frame for on-field ratings, at both ends, are Miles' two worst seasons at LSU.
