Anybody else catch the Chopped show last night with the owner / chef competing from this place?
Whats the scoop on Cowbell?

Didn't see the episode, but the restaurant serves very tasty food in a former filling station at the butt end of Oak St where it meets River Road. Excellent burger, interesting specials. Laid back kinda Austin/soCal vibe, chef's wife's art on the walls.

Their burger is in the "best" in the city conversation.
Looks like they are enclosing that outside gas pump area.

It IS the best burger in NOLA if you ask me. I've tried most.
Company is number two.
Then again, I dont like the cold shredded cheese from places like Port of Call and Beach Corner.

I'll eat those too but they don't even make the list IMO.

I really like the burger from Teds Frost Top, but I'm almost alone in this feeling.

It's my number one burger. A fun menu outside of that, though.

Cowbell is EXTREMELY overpriced.
Decent burger, but not worth price.
Went once, would not go back.

Possibly. Some things are a little steep, I'll agree.

OK, what's a good burger that's worth the price?

They use charcoal

Is that the one with the sauce? Whatever it's called? Bud's sauce or something? Been about 6 years since I've had one. I don't think I was wasted enough to enjoy it.

I don't know if I'd consider $14 for a high quality burger and fries "EXTREMELY overpriced", but I mean yeah it isn't super cheap.
Like someone said in the City Pork thread yesterday, people want the highest quality, but they want to pay Subway prices.
When I make legit burgers at home, the brioche buns and ground brisket and good condiments all cost much more than a pack of Winn Dixie burger buns and a pound of ground chuck.
Your run of the mill casual restaurants serve those types of burgers and you pay ~$10 for a burger and fries there. Wouldn't it make sense that a much higher quality burger is a few dollars more?
