Billy Bragg....the old stuff off "Back to Basics" and "Talking with the Tax Man About Poetry". I can play some of it now. But he has some strange rhythm changes and palm muting that I haven't perfected....and I sing it to.

Highway to Hell or WarPigs, it's a close race between those two. I really got into both bands at about the same time.

Most people from my generation learned "House of the Rising Sun" and "Gloria" first.

"Gloria"

THE staple of middle school Coke dances in the mid-60's. Bands usually ended up playing this song 2 or 3 times in their sets.

Enter Sandman by Metallica. I had to have an electric guitar after that.

There are videos of me when I was 3 jamming on the coffee table with a plastic guitar to some Michael Jackson. I've always been drawn to music and instruments.

I know the first song I wanted to learn on guitar was voodoo child when I finally got one that didn't come along til years later though. I believe the first song I learned was smells like teen spirit, but I'm not a big nirvana fan.

1962 and after much begging, my parents bought me a guitar. for sure, the beatles and stones helped me get serious about it.

About the same time and for the same exact reason. My grandmother bought me a cheap arse Decca guitar for Christmas. The neck was so big it appeared they just cut a tree in half and called it a guitar neck. Hendrix came along and almost every guy playing guitar started copying as many licks as they copy...the Decca was long gone by that time.

Hot for Teacher

I was 12 when this album was released; Alex Van Halen's intro floored me. I knew immediately that I wanted to be a drummer...

Neal Young's "The Needle and the Damage Done" is the song that made me want to learn to play..

It took a few years before I learned it.

12 years and still going.

Loving music made me want to pick the guitar up, Radiohead's Paranoid Android made me want to get good at it, Nels Cline made me put it down.
