If the question is plain and simple, "is he the best WR in the NFL?", the answer is no
His stats prorated over a 16 game schedule would be 139/1971/14. If he put that line up or something close to it over the course of a full season, would you say he is the best WR in the NFL?

The season Beckham is putting together is unprecedented. I don't think people realize what he's doing here
What he is doing is great... But he is NOT the best WR in the NFL..............

Michael Clayton as a rookie:
80 receptions, 1193 yards, 7 touchdowns
Many were thinking he was going to have an incredible career.
Outside of that season he never broke 500 yards again.
Sustained success determines how great a receiver is. I do think Odell will have a great career though.

Nope.
Beckham has 10 games at 71/972/9.
16 games would be 113.6/1555.2/14.4.

I took those from another thread
Even still, he would've tied the league league in receptions and TDs last season with those numbers and been 2nd in yards

Last seven games:
Beckham: 61/866/6 on 82 targets
Brown: 65/779/6 on 85 targets
Jones last seven played (not counting week 15 injury): 49/808/3 on 78 targets
Fairly similar number to Antonio Brown. Again, this is stupid good for a rookie and basically unprecedented for a rookie, but it is hard to call him the best receiver right now when other players are doing the same thing.
So basically, of the three best receivers in the league right now (to me), he's basically neck and neck with Brown. And outperforming Jones.

Why? We are talking about right now. And right now he is arguably the best WR in the NFL
Why? Because top player rankings don't go off of just one year. It is like putting Josh Gordon in the top 5 after last season. He was undoubtedly good, but you can't put him there after one season.

Why are those three better than Calvin, AJ, Demaryius, and Dez?

Well, a ton of people did.

His off the field issues derailed that not his on field

What is so funny about that?
Mike Evans 935 yards 10 TD's
Beckham 829 yards 6 TD's
I bet you thought you zinged him with your incorrect stats

Demaryius is in one of the most talented offense in the NFL, with a top four quarterback. How good is Emmanuel Sanders, really? Certainly better in that offense than he would be in most others.
Dez is great. Calvin is great. Odell has outperformed AJ Green this season, in similar situations.
All of these dudes are great. You could make a case for any one over the other. However, I think if the main argument for putting those guys over Odell is because they've been in the league longer, I'm not buying that argument. That's just me.

Josh Gordon was the best receiver in the NFL last season.
Why couldn't people say he was a top 5 receiver? Because he had off-the-field issues?

No one is denying that Odell is having an incredible rookie year. He should be OROY. He's been amazing.
I'm just saying I want to see him have sustained success before I call the guy elite. I think that's fair. Michael Clayton is a perfect example of a player people jumped the gun on, see the stats I posted above. People were all over Kennan Allen, he's been pretty average this year. I do not think Odell will be a flash in the pan, but calling him an elite WR already is an overreaction and a bit disrespectful to guys who have done it a high level for more than a season.

Clayton and Allen are not physically gifted like Beckham. They were like 4.7 40 guys at the combine. Beckham is 4.4 guy with a neat 40" vert. Huge hands etc
He's on a different level

I see what you're saying, but after seeing what Beckham did to Sherman...the dude is elite.

There are plenty of past instances where a guy just had a really good month and couldn't ever do it again. Beckham clearly isn't going to just flame out and become a nobody if he can stay healthy.
