Scout.com analysis: National recruiting analyst and college football expert Jamie Newburg said: "And to me it’s a no brainer. I got to believe, at least in my opinion that Les Miles is perfect and best candidate for the Michigan job. No. 1 he is a Michigan Man. And No. 2 he is a proven winner. He’s won everywhere he has been. He’s won at the highest level at LSU and the SEC. He knows how to get the job done. I just think it’s laughable that he is not the second guy they call. The first call has to be to [Jim] Harbaugh. The second got to be Miles.”

The Michigan fans understand this. It's the Michigan brass that has the issue and I think they're going to suffer for it.

This shite is going to drag on and LSU is going to get screwed. Stay or go. Make a decision & be done with it.

Another wait until the end of the year and F-ck LSU - Merry Christmas. Then Alleva gets holding his n-ts in this hands totally unprepared ........
Might make sense but it should have been done already. MI has no clue what they are doing and is a cesspool of a mess. Imagine looking for Coach # 3 since 2007.

These People know nothing. But if they can hurt LSU in recruiting they will take it and run. Just the all of him leaving possibly has a few recruits wavering or thinking elsewhere.

Beside how can you trust Alleva to make a football hire that would continue winning instead of having to start over? But if we are to hire a good replacement Miles will have to leave on his own so that a new coach can come in and not under pressure to get fired when he only wins 10 games a year.!

Alleva won't make the hire. The TAF will be the ones who decides who will be the next coach. Alleva is simply a figure head.

I love that they assume that Michigan is a better job than LSU. It clearly isn't even close.

TAF doesn't have as much pull as people like to think.

when it comes to firing a coach, I think they do. That's where a decent portion of the buyout comes from. Big donors/wealthy alums who want someone out.

When bringing in someone in this possible scenario, when a coach leaves voluntarily, I agree with you.

Jamie Newberg is back in the recruiting business? I thought he was now lawyer in DFW and just did a Rangers blog.

Imagine if Michigan had 100 wins, 2 Big 10 titles, 2 national championship appearances and 1 national championship in a 10 year span. They'd be nationally relevant again and would be hyped to no end. Everyone involved would be ecstatic.

The thing most of those people have a problem with is the same thing that LSU fans see. Miles is seen nationally as a funny talking moron who eats grass. Statistically he's among the best coaches in the country but he can't overcome the image that he's created that he's a moron.

The BCSNC loss to Bama sealed that reputation. He could have shed it once and for all with a win in that game. He could have had some hope of outlasting it with a competitive performance and a loss. But that game cemented his perception, not just here, but nationally. Everyone was watching.

I've heard this both previous times Michigan was looking fr a new coach.

What is the Michigan administration's beef with Miles?

I think it has something to do with Lloyd Carr, but does anyone know what the nature of the problem is?

LSU job is a much better job than Michigan in today's CFB environment.

It isn't. This (if Miles went) would be Miles wanting to get his old school back on the map. Mich isn't gonna cough up the money for the staff Miles would want though.
