ESPN: Barry Alvarez to coach bowl game

Wonder how big of a bonus he'll give himself this time?

ETA: congrats to Auburn on the bowl victory

Well... the seniors asked him if he would coach the bowl.

Although, I agree he has a big ego.

Didn't the seniors "ask" him to coach the Rose Bowl two years ago?

Our players requested John L. Smith in 2012. Never listen to players

Our players demanded Mike Arher after our AD had decided on Spurrier. Our players are dumber

Auburn can't beat Alvarez, unfortunately.

If Les goes to Michigan, will Alleva coach our bowl game?

That's only a partial truth. I don't believe the AD ever wanted to hire Spurrier. Did Spurrier come and visit, sure. But I haven't heard any evidence that the AD wanted to hire him.

I do concur that the players spoke up in favor of Archer.

Joab Thomas demanded Bill Curry after Bobby Bowden had shown interest in the position.

Remember; there's always someone dumber.

Yikes.

Wasn't Alabama Bowden's dream job (I know he's from B-ham and played a year at UA) until he finally won a NC at FSU and had them rolling?

I thought I'd read somewhere that he showed serious interest a few times until Stallings resurrected Bama, which coincided with FSU moving to the ACC and Bowden's top 4 streak at FSU.

So, playing the what-if game...

What if Wisky was selected by the CFP committee for one of the games they fill? And Barry is on that committee.. would he still coach the game?

I seem to remember reading an article about that around the time Bowden left coaching.
