Didn't see this posted, but the Goodell haters may appreciate it.

quote:

Late into the night on Sept. 10, executives in the NFL conference room brainstormed over ways to prove the commissioner wasn’t covering up for Mr. Rice. Pizzas arrived but no slice was taken until Mr. Goodell ate. He never did, and the slices turned cold in the box.
NFL General Counsel Jeffrey Pash suggested an independent investigation run by former Federal Bureau of Investigation director Robert Mueller. “Call him now,” Mr. Goodell said, despite the late hour.

Goodell never saw the pizzas and nobody from the league office called for them.

Latest statement from the league office clarifying the previous statement. "There were no pizzas, had there been pizza we surely would have told everyone to eat as soon as they arrived."

But we have pictures of the pizzas.

"Please talk to our unbiased investigator, he can prove that no pizzas were present. Do I need to recite his qualifications again?"

The point is he is an arrogant douchebag that's not even particularly good at his job.

IDK, I guess I thought that even Roger would be above not allowing allowing others to eat before him. Shame on me

I guess I just don't understand why the owners kiss this guys arse like he is some commodity that is unable to be replaced. I'm sure there are many business men out there that can do as good or better of a job than Roger without continuously looking like an arse.

Depends on who is evaluating him, from his employers stand point he has made them a lot of money. TV contracts and the last CBA went down very well for the owners. He has effectively marginalized the NFLPA and managed the concussion lawsuits in a way that limited the NFL damages.

Just a theory here. How long would it take as the league commisioner to get dirt on every owner while accumulating favors across the league? My guess is not long if you do it right.

Maybe the owners dont like him, but tthey just dislike the prospect of firing more?

No, not at all. Anyone with an ounce of brain power knew the "internal investigation" was a sham

There is an unwritten rule with business dinners/meetings when alcohol is available. Follow the lead of the highest ranking official in the room. If he orders a cocktail at dinner then feel free to do the same.

But I have never seen anything like that happen with pizzas.

That is a poisonous atmosphere he's developed in there.

Is there any actual proof that Roger Goodell is a smart human being? Is it entirely possible he has the level of intelligence of your average SEC Ranter?

How much less $ would the NFL have earned if Superior Pariah was the Commissioner over the same time period? Do you really think the NFL is in the position it is because of Roger Goodell? That's like giving Mark Emmert credit for the television money going to college conferences.
