Is Thanksgiving a religious holiday or a Pagan holiday (or neither)

As everyone knows, Thanksgiving was originally for giving thanks to the bountiful Fall harvest.

Were they giving thanks to God or Mother Nature (which would make it Pagan)?

Just wondering, sitting here at work, nothing to do.

frick the Pilgrims. A bunch of fanatical fundies who only survived because they stole from the Indians at gunpoint. They came to North America for religious freedom for themselves, then turned around and persecuted everyone who didn't believe exactly like they did.

Do native americans celebrate thanksgiving? Who were they thanking?
I think its an anti-cannibalism holiday.
