Normally take my dog out around 6am but opened my door around 5am today because I had to be at work early to leave for a conference in Houston. Took my dog out to the common area of my condo complex and when we walked back up to my condo there was a suspicious character who popped up from behind my car. I asked him wtf he was doing and made up some story about him living in the condos behind mine and he was trying to catch his lady with her boyfriend. Which made no sense at all. You can't even see those condos from the front of mine. Several of the homeowners in my complex are armed so I told him he better be prepared to get shot at if he came back and tried to finish the job. I followed him to his car and took some pics as he pulled out. Called BRPD to support the suspicious activity and they acted as if I was bothering them. Shocker.

Moral of the story: if you have nice things in BR, be prepared to have to protect them and don't expect much support from BRPD. Also if you see a light skinned black man in an older gold/beige Acura legend looking vehicle lurking around your neighborhood at odd hours, heads up.

What do you mean 'popped up from behind my car?'

And where was this?

As much as people get worried about being out late at night, it seems that the criminals are more likely to spring on you in the early morning hours.
Only time I've ever been in a situation where a mugging seemed imminent was at around 5am.

Guess there's a criminal benefit to catching the early risers off guard.

this.

Same with the Brightside area. If you see any high school aged black kids (especially one with a cast on) walking around your neighborhood during the day, they are scoping out who to hit next. They've been doing it for months but the police won't do anything because the city can't afford fingerprinting. They'll scope out a property then clean it out in about 10 minutes guerrilla style. If you see them, report them.
