Carmelo. There are lots of coaches who have said he is one of the most difficult players to gameplan for. If Carmelo had any sense of teamwork, he would be one of the greatest ever.

Dominique was an awesome dunker. Carmelo can literally do it all.

Hated the Hawks but #21 was a better scorer....

It might be age...but I just don't remember Dominique having so many off nights as Carmelo has

I think Melo might put it on the floor a lil better, but overall I'd go with Dominique.

Melo has played 12 full seasons, 810 games, he has scored 19,958 points, 2 seasons over 2000.
To compare, in Nique's first 12 season he played in 833 games and scored 23,292 points, 8 seasons over 2000.

I think Nique wasthe better scorer

Kudos to you for using seasons over age as the correct comparison.

Nique is the correct answer, but Melo is an all time great scorer as well.

I think your numbers are incorrect. Melo has 500 more points, and Wilkens played in 907 games through 12 seasons.

Who in today's game most closely resembles Dominique's playing style?

Blake Griffin and..?

Stats were from basketball reference.com. I could have made an error. Just trying to give a comparison.

I am gonna say Dominique because of that one game where him and Bird went back and forth the entire game.....it was the greatest shite I ever saw as a kid. Someone should post it, all of you old timers know exactly what I am talking about.

That's what I used as well, albeit on my phone. I do know that Melo's points are incorrect though.

I would say young D Wade is a better comparison.

I'm going with Nique. He had a soft touch from outside, great inside game with some finesse moves that are still amazing to watch. I'd put him way over Melo any day of the week.

Different era's. Teams shot the ball a lot more during Nique's era than in Melo's. Defenses are better as well.

Give me Melo. He is a match up nightmare.

I do remember. The final result broke my heart as a child, but even then I had a sense for how amazing and rare that one-on-one battle was.

What a game LSU480. I hadn't thought about it in years, but I've never seen a better personal duel in the 4th quarter before or since.

Sweet sample size.

Dominique Wilkins was an abysmal outside shooter. I don't think he even attempted a three until about his fifth season.
