Ok, I'm planning on meeting with boss to talk about me quitting my current position for them and putting in my 3 weeks. I could be making more from my other work. Everyone I know tells me I should have quit a long time ago. But I don't want exactly to have a clean break. I'd like to still do some process and project management for them in my free time, which is something I couldn't do while employed there. Even if I don't, I'd love to create a report for them talking about my ideas for the company's future success. Something in my gut tells me though that would be inappropriate, though I can't quite place why.

Question: Would it be appropriate to quit a job or talk with your boss about quitting but also talk about doing some contracted work for them after you leave.

What qualifies you to tell them how to run their business?

Well, from working there and seeing what works and what needs to be improved.

Why have you waited until quitting to address this?

Talking to your employer about possibly quitting.? That really is not a good idea.

So you're working two jobs?

Will this give you more routes for Domino's?

That's why I'm asking on here. My initial impulses are always overly ambitious.

Sounds like you already know the answer, then.

I have talked with them in the past and they've been receptive. They kept on telling me to wait. Always wait until they're done with their current stuff is worked out. Which is understandable.

Why? To tell them that I enjoyed working for them and to thank them for my time there isn't a good idea?

I have to be honest, I really hope your job does not require a lot of writing. If it does, I'm shocked you have a job at all.

I am not sure what you mean by "process management"....but I can assure you that once you tell them you are quitting, they will not have the slightest bit of interest in a report about their future success...

if the "process management" that you mention comes to be, then maybe you can work the other stuff in later...

fact is, if you are taking another job, then you need to put everything that you have into that job and quit worrying about the one that you are leaving....
