We bought Weathertech for 2 of my inlaws vehicles. Expensive arse mats. Now im about to spend $200 on a firewood rack because my wife an her family are all American made crazy.

When is the higher cost not worth it?

Not me. I could not care less where something is made or by whom it is made. Blood diamonds, sweat shops - I honestly do not care. I just want my stuff at highest quality for a low price.

Not really but it can be a deciding factor when all else is close to equal enough. I ended up picking out my case pocket knife because it is american made.

I go to great lengths to buy American.
If not available or in the quality I want, I look to Germany or other euro countries or Japan.
I avoid China unless there is no viable alternative.
Weathertechs are totally worth the price fwiw.

It helps, but I don't usually go out of my way.

I'll buy American made craftsman-type items. I'm not making shitty build union products, usually.

Define"out of your way". If you mean adding "American made" to your "car mat" google search, I'm surprised you stopped being lazy enough to start this thread.

Unless of course you're DRIVING to Illinois to pick them up. Now that would be out of the way.

I'm not brand loyal or care where its made. Higher prices don't mean a better product and same goes for crappy/cheap. I look for value=best product at best price.

I make more of an attempt to buy local and keep my money in the community I live.

I don't worry much buying 'American' because labels like that can be very misleading.

I only buy American when it comes to my pets. I don't go out of my way for other things unless they smell like gasoline!
