If you're Alleva, you have to be working scenarios if Miles leaves...

What do you do if you're an AD in this situation? This is the most important hire of his professional career. He has to know Miles' intentions by now and at least making a few contacts to gauge interest. LSU can't be just hanging in limbo waiting for a move from Miles. Of course this has to be done in complete secrecy which makes it even more challenging.

Any AD worth his salt should always have a line or two in the water. You always need a short list of guys who you KNOW would take the job if the timing was right.

That said, I have no confidence that Alleva is worth his salt.

Why not? He fits what most LSU fans want. D coach that will mix it up on O. LSU doesn't need a program builder, just someone who can step in and coach.

I think any ad worth their salt would have an emergency list of coaches to call.

I think Hudspeth is the guy we know would come if shite hits the fan. And to be honest, that could turn out to be a home run

U act like a program builder is better than a guy that can come in behind a legend and keep things progressing. I totally disagree with this premise. Both are very highly skilled assignments, but i think the maintainer is by far the more difficult. but, only if the program is committed to winning and resources are similar to your rivals.

LSU needs and will always need a tremendous leader, coaching the football program. Not just a guy who can step in and coach.

judging by his BB hires I wouldn't want any where near a football hire.

Alleva is probably playing Call of Duty in the basement screaming at his mom for more meatloaf.

Alleva won't be in this by himself should this possible scenario arise.

My thread is anchored for suggesting that. Apparently living in reality gets an anchored thread. Look at UF, the reality is you are most likely going to have to get a coach that hasnt been on the big stage yet

Has Hudspeth even won that medicore conference ULLLL plays in? His best team barely beat a below average Tulane team last yr in the powerful N.O. Bowl. A better coach by what criteria? CLM has won the SEC. ClM has won the NC. ClM went 13-0 in the regular season/SECCG in the toughest division in the toughest conference in the country. Look at his out of the conference wins against Oregon, Wisconsin, at the time A&M. etc etc etc. Repeat: what has Hudspeth won?

I don't know how many times this has to be said but I highly doubt joe a is more than a puppet for this hire. The money men in the taf are probably making calls and I would be surprised if we haven't hired a firm to look into replacements
