I'm starting to agree with that as well. I think will a better outside receiver because of his straight line speed and route running. He doesn't have much short are quickness to make things happen in space. He's not an elusive/shifty guy. He doesn't have Landry's agility, but he has everything else and speed.

You are "starting" to agree based on what you have seen this fall, which is not what coaches see every day in practice. I DO agree with you that he is very under-rated as an outside receiver. From what I am told, one of the things that the staff really likes about him is that he came in and quickly learned ALL of the receiver positions, and has played all 5 of them this year. He is the most versatile in terms of being able to play inside AND outside. Not easy to do. Your point is well taken Datbayoubengal, I still cannot make up my mind if he is a better inside guy or outside guy.

As for an earlier poster's comments about 4 drops in the Alabama game, I think you are confusing Trey with Amari Cooper, the 2014 BILETNIKOF AWARD WINNER and consensus best WR in college football. He had 4 drops that game. But he also mixed in a couple of nice plays, happens with 15-18 targets a game.

If you have ever played basketball before, you would understand what it is like to play the entire game, shoot the ball 20-30 times a game, get into the flow, make some shots and miss some. You would also understand how much more difficult it is to come off the bench, have to take one shot cold and hit the game winning 3. Much harder to do. Nevertheless, you are expected to perform at a high level, and TQ did not get where he is today without high expectations. He will be fine and I look forward to his better days that are ahead of him.

Did you not see diarse's TD vs Wisconsin? It was replayed a lot on espn. Stop making stupid comments to make another player look better. People are talking about Quinn because of a few idiots that hyped him up to be coming in as pro-ready. He's good, but not the best wr on the team. He'll improve and do well, but stop making excuses for him. He's a big boy.

I am sure Quinn will get better with time. You don't set a record like he did against the kind of competition he played against by sitting on your arse. I think all of you selling now will be jumping back on the bandwagon in a year or two.

What I saw was impressive to me for a true freshman, considering where our passing game was this year. If you know football, then you know this kid runs sharp routes. The 2pt conversion play he had over the middle early in the season was a great example. This is a very under appreciated skill, but will go along way toward making a receiver a reliable target. There is a reason that NFL scouts talk a lot about route running.

The other thing that stood out to me was his blocking. He isn't a big guy, but you can tell he plays smart, and does a really good job. Most of you should recognize how important this is in our offense. He also must have some toughness about him as well, considering that he took a few hard shots over the middle this year. The one at AU was brutal.

So, don't be stupid. Message board like the Rant lean toward hyperbolic commentary one way or the other. Everyone either sucks, or is the best player to suit up in Purple and Gold. Everybody just settle down and give the kid a chance to show what he can do.
