One thing many people are not thinking about is if Miles does take to the job to Michigan like many people are hoping, it probably means we lose Chavis also.

New head coach usually means new staff.

Do people really think Chavis is the only human who can coach defense in the country? He's obviously very good, but there are many other guys who can do the job.

This post cuts the other way too. It means BDP and Ensminger may have to go find something else to do as well.

well shite Chavis is the only good dc in the country. I guess we would have to fold up the program.

FWIW Frank would be a much bigger loss if we brought in a coach that didn't keep him or we took to long replacing miles.

an argument could be made but there's also an argument that we're set for the next 2-3 years and let les and staff do their thing and get after competing for the next championship.

Not really. Any new head coach will come and keep the defense as is if you go after an offensive mined head coach. Unless your Kiffin and you want daddy to help or your a Saban. Other then that you keep the defense intact.

I tend to agree. I just think we need to purge ourselves. This maybe a stupid way of thinking, but it is how I feel. We have been a snowball headed for hell since 1/9/12 and I think this could break us out of that funk

Why, exactly, is it a given that Chavis leaves? Where would he go? Certainly not to Michigan, if that’s what you’re inferring.

If Miles leaves, I predict Cam will take his place. Wouldn’t it make far more sense for an already comfortable Chavis to stay put (assuming he has a good working relationship with Cameron, which I presume is the case)?

We're 28-10 since that's game that's not fantastic or anything but definitely not a "snowball headed for hell" either.

same thing would happen if Miles up and retires suddenly tomorrow...the job would be open.

the pattern that i've seen from the "i hope to god Les stays" faction is the fear mongering that is being spread.

Miles won't be here forever and LSU will have to make a coaching change at some point. Chavis will be gone, Wilson will be gone, every good coach will be gone.

and then the new staff will be hired, and good coaches will join that staff.

The same people that think the sky will fall if les leaves are the ones content with mediocrity and a decline because we can't do any better and we'll never have a coach as good as Les (bullshite) they've made him some kind of Demi-god

well, 15-9 in sec play since that game...maybe it's not snowballing, but the forecast does call for a shite ton more snow.

2 losses, 3 losses, then 4 losses. Not just that, the negativity is just growing and growing. Like I said it maybe irrational and stupid, but I am personally ready for a change

Huh? This year we had the #1 Overall Defense in the SEC and the #2 Scoring Defense in the SEC.
