Do you know it?

If not, there's a documentary on Netflix and Hulu.

Pretty interesting.

For the record, I like Sriracha, but it's not all that.

I'm from New Iberia and grew up on Tabasco Sauce. As an adult I developed a dislike for the vinegar taste. Sriracha gives me a less vinegary version of Tabasco. I use it a lot.

As well as a garlic -y depth that a lot of hot sauces lack. Its flavor and not just heat.

I went the opposite. I could practically drink it plain. Especially Pear Vinegar.

I've never had pear vinegar... didn't even know there was such a thing... but I take sips of apple cider vinegar all the time. Love it.

tabasco is a must for any south LA staple. red beans, jambaylaya, gumbo, etc.

i like Sriracha too. but it doesnt compliment a dish like tabasco does.

I have the same problem with bottled Mexican Hot Sauces. Most of them have too much vinegar.

I like all hot sauces but Tabasco and Sriracha are at the top of the list for me. I like Sriracha on most Asian-y type dishes and on eggs. I put tabasco on almost all cajun or salty dishes. I think both can add a lot to a simple dish.

This brand of Mexican hot sauce is definitely not too vinegary:

Stay away from this crap:

I don't think I have used tabasco in several years. Always use Louisiana Brand hot sauce. Just taste better to me.

I think some of the love for Tabasco is that people grew up with it being the only hot sauce around. It was in most restaurants and homes. Its really familiar
