Why is Monday night football so hung up on old crappy rivalries?

Every year we get the Jets/Dolphins or the like and every year we either one or both teams are shitty and it's a terrible game.
It's why Sunday Night football blows Monday night out of the water. Sunday gets the best game and Monday looks for the best rivalry regardless of how good the teams are projected to be.

They got Don Shula on the phone to wax nostalgic and everything.

Monday night is captive to the schedule. They should air only interesting divisional games to keep the audience's attention. Tonight is divisional but far from interesting.

Because MNF gave up the "game of the week" almost a decade ago and hoped to trick people into thinking it's still the premier game by reminding people how important it used to be. And it has worked based on the number of idiots who still post every week on the MSB, "drrr why did MNF pick such a crappy game this week?!?!?"
Anyone who could read a 200-word article in 2005 knew the "game of the week" moved to Sunday night starting in 2006.

At least it's a close game. Last night's game sucked unless you jerk off to Peyton.

At the beginning of the season it it tough to pick which games will be good. SNF can flex to show the best matchup. MNF is locked in at the beginning of the season. I imagine they pick on a combo of rivalries and who they think will be good.

Even at the beginning of the year, who thought Jets-Dolphins would be a good game?
I understand SNF gets to pick before MNF, but there were still better options for MNF to pick this week...Pack vs Pats for one.

I don't think that's how it works either where they can pick the second best game.

The Jets and Dolphins aren't even a real rivalry. What the frick is wrong with Monday Night Football? They always have the shittiest and most boring match-ups known to man.

There was an awesome comeback in 2000 though!

Don't talk about something when you obviously have no clue.

I'm pretty sure I know exactly what I'm talking about. Too bad you don't pipsqueak.
