2014 Fantasy MVP

Not for your team, overall MVP.
Giving you elite production and you were probably able to draft him much later than Manning, Brees, Rodgers.
Dude has been a PPR monster and his floor has pretty much been 15pts.
Bust:
Monte Ball. frick you guy.

As far as where they were picked- Manny Sanders, Maclin, TY Hilton. Most teams got them as WR2s or FLEX options. Meaning they could have been paired up with a Dez or DT88

To go off your criteria Maclin has like 46 less points than Antonio and was going anywhere from the 6th-9th.

Can't give out the MVP until you see how players do in the playoffs.

Forsett? Hes been great for a WW guy.

You can throw golden Tate in that group too.

true true, draft position wasn't my biggest criteria, just pointing out Luck is the top QB in fantasy and you were able to nab him much later than the big 3.
Also, of those names not sure any have had the consistency of Brown. Maybe sanders
WR is going to be sick deep next year. The return of gordon for a full year (maybe), an impressive rookie class one year older, and none of the big names from this year entering the decline stage.

QB: Andrew Luck
No one else in even close in value. I doubt many teams miss the playoffs with Luck at the helm. His draft price may not be that cheap again until he retires.
RB: Le'Veon Bell, Ahmad Bradshaw (RIP), Justin Forsett
Bell looked like a classic case of sophomore bust, but he made everyone look foolish. PPR stud and could be the top draft pick season.
Bradshaw was a major beneficiary of Andrew Luck, but I think he was the #6 RB at the time of his injury.
Forsett caught a bunch of passes early in the season and he has run for a crazy high YPC all year long. He looks legit out there.
WR: Antonio Brown, Golden Tate
Toula loves this dude and Brown showed why. He was drafted at the tail end of the tier 1 WR's, but he has outperformed them all. Crazy high floor and absurd ceiling.
Lester Earl nailed this prediction. Golden Tate is really good. He continues to be underrated for some odd reason as he stills occasionally shows up in who do I start threads by morons. I made a thread last week, but Tate has comparable numbers to Jordy Nelson outside of TD's. In fact, Tate now has the advantage in receptions, targets, yards, YPG, YAC, and 20+ yard plays. I believe Tate is second among WR's in YAC and only trails Demaryius.
TE: Gronk
This position sucks, but Gronk has been a yardage hog since he gained clearance to fully practice and get more snaps around week 5. Plus, he was available later this year coming off a million injuries.
K: Gostkowski, Vinatieri
I usually do not understand reaching for kickers, but it paid off in 2014. Those few extra points each week would have come in handy for me multiple times in one league.
DEF: Lions D
They have had a positive output in every game except the game at New England, but no one was starting them that week. They only have two touchdowns this year, but they load on sacks and do not allow many points. Plus, they have a great playoff schedule.
Overall MVP: Andrew Luck
This guy is the best QB prospect I have ever seen, since I am too young to remember Elway at Stanford. I was blown away when I saw him as a sophomore in college. Dude was already pro ready at this point, and I said that he would be a HOF player for sure. Not necessarily a bold prediction, but I have never seen such a good QB at such a young age.

agree with most, but would toss the Bills D in their as well

Yeah, I obviously missed some like Sanders, TY, etc.
Good call on the Bills. They have done the same thing as the Lions with more big games. Outside of Pats games, Bills have allowed 23 or less and Lions have allowed 24 or less. Bills have a lot more sacks lately and more TD's this year.

I'll also say, though I was guilty of it too....DeMarco Murray is the reason you shouldn't try to project injuries for guys and just take an elite talent.
Posted on 12/1/14 at 3:36 pm to BilJ
Murray and Luck have put a lot of people in the playoffs. Two guys i didnt draft on any of my 5 teams
Posted on 12/1/14 at 3:42 pm to GynoSandberg
Great players I have zero of:
Andrew Luck
Elite/expensive QB's (except I traded for Brady in one league)
DeMarco Murray
Le'Veon Bell
Jamaal Charles
Foster
Antonio Brown
Jordy Nelson
Demaryius
Gronk
Julius
Still have had a good year of fantasy so far.

I usually don't like the idea of a QB as a fantasy MVP. Certain years, yeah maybe.
In the 3 leagues I play on TD, team with Luck:
Auction league: 2-11
M/TV league: 7-6
Last Chance league: 6-6-1
For reference, team with Antonio Brown:
Auction league: 9-4
M/TV league: 8-5
Last Chance league: 9-3-1
I know it's not a great sample size and records aren't dependent on one player, but in my experience great QB play is generally less important.

I was 0-4 on Murray and Luck too.
My teams were meh in all 4 of my league, but I made playoffs in all of them due to some MVPs.
1- AB84, Eagles DEF
2- AB84, Kelvin, Gronk (turds eveywhere else- AP #1 pick)
3- Kelvin, L'Bell
4- Jordy, Tate, Sanders
^None of these will win the ship, either because of shite RBs (except for L'Bell league), hope and pray TEs (except Gronk team) and zero elite QBs (Stafford, Romo/Rivers, Romo/Sanchize, Kaep)

quote:All depends on how you draft around the QB imo, every time I wait on a QB my team has problems. When I draft an elite QB I've always been able to put guys around them and at least make the playoffs.

Good post Boom. I'll give you my first up vote.
Posted on 12/1/14 at 3:54 pm to Toula
im gonna put 3/5 in the playoffs
Riding Rodgers/Brown in one
Riding Dt88/Dez/Gordon in my 14 team where I went WR heavy (RBs Herron/L. Murray for playoffs probably)
Riding Maclin/Gronk/Lacy/ in this standard league I was asked to join
