Doesn't change the fact that you can get multiple off of amazon for (under $370 too), including the one that I'm getting.
Right, I thought he was trying to stay cheaper on the low end of $300, like the Zotac for $319. If he was going up to $370 easy as hell to find one.
God I'm actually IRL mad I didn't get that 290 for $199.

My entertainment room is kind of small, and it already has tons of electronics in it. It warms up in a hurry. The lower TDP of the GTX 970 won me over.

Don't be afraid to buy used. That's where AMDs value really shines. There are 7950s showing up on /r/hardwareswap sub $100 now, that's stupid good value. I overpaid for my 780 when I bought it used, but I needed a card and was looking specifically for a reference model.

I've been working a ton of overtime lately so the money wasn't really the issue. I'm exhausted so I only spent about an hour picking out all the parts. I got nervous that I might have goofed after I placed the order which is why I consulted you guys. Thanks everyone!

I'm not afraid to buy used, my 270X is used from ILikeLSU.
That was just part of the allure of the deal, a brand new 290 for $199. Used on eBay you can get one for 200-210 no problem.

Those WF cards still use quite a bit of power. The WF 980 had a higher wattage output than a 780 ti (according to a LTT video, but I actually find their benchmarking videos to be the most accurate and "real world")

I saw a used 290x for $230 a few days ago, but missed it by a few minutes. Would have put that bad boy under water in no time

I broke down and decided to cancel my motherboard so I could get one with SLI support. How's this one look:

Nice. You probably didn't need to spend so much for that 970, but it's a good card.
Don't ignore my suggestion about a cooler, though. Running stock cooling on that rig would be dumb.
EDIT: You will be glad you went with an SLI board in case you decide to upgrade without building a new machine. And you'll be glad you're doing SLI instead of crossfiring the 290x. Crossfiring with Hawaii was by far the worst crossfire experience I've had.
EDIT2: And to clarify for future reference -- you didn't have to get a board specifically labeled "SLI" in the model name (although there's nothing wrong with that board). What you need to look for is any z97 motherboard that has 2 or more PCIe 3.0 slots that can access at least 8 PCIe 3.0 lanes. SLI requires that each card use 8 more lanes, whereas the crossfire standard is less strict about that and only needs 4 lanes.
The Gigabyte board you originally chose had a full 16x PCIe slot, and then another PCIe slot with access to only 4 lanes. The lane restriction wouldn't affect performance in a 2-way SLI setup on PCIe 3.0, but NVIDIA just has a more defined standard, which helps a little in ensuring every customer has a similar experience (kind of like Apple's mindset regarding hardware and software support).
