just went the entire season without a catch. He had a drop in the Wisconsin game, but I don't think he was targeted ever again(surprise).

Is he not good enough to get on the field or is it just gameplan?

Threw to him last night on a Sideline route but he got held. No call. Watch replay. Miles goes berserk on ref after.

I dont understand how we recruit so many TEs and none of them can play their position...or maybe our offensive coaching is THAT bad.

We threw a sideline pass to him yesterday where he was held but it wasn't called.

But to answer your question we play 1950s football with a poor QB.

They tried to throw a wheel his way last night, it was on the obvious hold that went un-called. Jennings sailed the ball 10 yards OOB either way.

I suspect our inability to complete even the most basic passes for large stretches of the season accounts somewhat for his lack of numbers.

But as we say every year, maybe next year is the one in which we'll finally get our TE's involved in the passing game.

Seriously you are asking that? We don't throw to the TE's just look at how many passes were targeted at TE's this year, it is non-existent for the most part. This has nothing to do with Smith and everything to do with scheme.

Converted a third down to a TE last night. Targeted Smith as has been pointed out. Keep making stuff up, though.

Seriously, how many times have the TEs been asked to do anything but block. DeSean has dropped a pass, and been held twice this year...one was called. He will get more chances in his career.

If I'm not mistaken, he was a teammate of Quinn in HS. Same deal. I was happy to see Quinn make a catch last night. If he had made one catch against Bama on two tries that hit him in the hands, LSU probably wins that game.

My bad that had nothing to do with it...it was the refs.

Nor do I. FSU does this too. They recruit all these TEs and rarely use them, outside of O'Leary the past few years.

I'm making up that LSU fans say that every year about our TE's? Oh.

I haven't heard this explanation in a while but they used to say they recruited a lot of TEs b/c those guys were versatile and could be grown into OL or DL if they didn't pan out at TE. I'm trying to remember but we had at least three starters who were converted TEs - possibly Peterman, a OT under Saban (I think the guy who turned the game around in Saban's first Peach bowl win - can't remember his name) and a DL starter under Saban. I don't remember the last guy we did this with, but we've got some current TEs that we seriously ought to consider moving to OL or DE for depth next year.

part gameplan and part our QB doesn't see the field well enough to throw to the TEs much. but honestly, I think it's mostly gameplan.

Ensminger should be fired along with BDP. we would have gotten the call on the throw to Smith if Jennings could put the ball within 10 yards of a receiver.

TBH, we're not completing a bunch of passes, period. Last night showed the staff is open to at least throwing it to the TE and FB a little more of course the WRs didn't get many passes thrown their way.

We need to win games. If that means throwing it to the TE, by all means, throw it to the TE. If that means we need to run the spread option, by all means, let's run the spread option.

But, while we've got a gaping chest wound over here called "The QB position" - can we ignore that superficial abrasion over there called, "We never throw to the TE at LSU" - please? At least until we get the patient stabilized again?

Thank you.

So you think one attempt every 5 games is getting a TE involved.

If our TE were running the wrong routes or blowing blocking assignments, then I might agree with you. But they are not. They are simply not involved!!...How the hell is that Ensmingers fault? That decision is above his pay grade. Thats either on Cam or Les. I am sure Ensminger would love for the TE to be more apart of the offense.
My question is, how do you feel if you are Smith?!
1# TE recruit in the country....you pass up offers from teams like Arkansas, Bama, and Miami...who are known for using the TE, to come to LSU and never been seen but twice a SEASON??!!
If you can take off the purple and gold glasses and imagine if that was you, would you not be thinking you should have gone somewhere else?
I think I would be if I were him.
