Are Smith Machine shrugs a good alternative to standard barbell shrugs?

Just wondering, cause when I do standard barbell shrugs and I go heavy, the bar ends up rubbing against my unmentionables.

Use dumbells, kettlebells, or do high pulls

Will put way more size on your traps than shrugs

So you're saying you work out and have a long penis. Subtle brag thread.

I feel weird doing shrugs with a barbell too. I get the feeling tht everyone sees the bar hit my dick each time I shrug

Get a hex bar, brah.

Better, safer deadlifts, too.

sit on incline bench with chest and face on pad. Let dumbbells/arms hang naturally down towards floor. Start shrugs. Total different angle and burn.

Done them for the first time yesterday morning. My traps are toasted right now. I love it.

I'll have to try high pulls. I've been doing shrugs on the smith machine for a while, but it hits my junk as well. Sometimes it will flop over the bar and it's blatantly obvious. Just nothing you can do about it.

Doing any exercise on a smith machine will not be as effective as true free weights bc you are limited to one specific plane of motion and therefore are only isolating very specific muscle groups and not using any stabilizers. It can lead to injury when doing a different exercise with similar motion but needs to recruit more stabilizer muscles which are not developed.

No, use dumbbells and stay the hell out of my thread if you are even thinking about using the barbell again!

I think whiskey and women are better than all of the above.
