well he is a cop. He is backing the blue line. I see plenty of logic in this thread, along with some non-logical things on both sides.

As opposed to what? I'm more qualified on the topic at hand than you'll ever be.

Look, it was a bad situation, but you don't do stupid shite and you go home alive. It's really that simple.

Geez. This is something we arent even mentioning that is relevant. So is North Carolina. Friend of mine had the cops called on him for it as well. Lucky he wasnt shot.

The kid took the gun, removed the orange safety tip and was pointing it at people in a public park enough to where the police were called. Again, play dumb arse games, get dumb arse prizes.

If it goes against his training then he should be at least fired for the accident. I don't think charges come from this incident since it appears to be bad luck but it should still cost both cops their jobs.

Yea, I do think pulling up at a high speed and right next to the suspect isn't the best tactic

I personally dont think this was intentional but rather bad luck.

Or just really stupid and irresponsible (not traits I want of someone that carries weapons and is charged with protecting and serving me). I agree there's no reason to infer malice here, though.

I think the rookie being incompetent with a gun is worse than if he shot him out of hate/anger.

You talking about the cops (armed, grown men charged with protecting and serving civilians of their jurisdiction) or the 12-year old?

some of us want to live in a society where we can do something 'stupid' and not be killed by an over-reactive police force. You know, like where doing something stupid doesn't entail the death penalty sans judge and jury.

Mr. Wayne, you are spot on with your post. Also, it appears as though the officer who fired was so upset afterwards, didn't want to walk back to the spot of the shooting and was bracing himself with the trunk of the crusier.

well I for one am smarter than someone who would go out and wave a toy gun around and point it at people, then pull it out when the cops pull up.

Let me clue yall in on a little secret. Cops dont want to get shot. They are also scared to death to shoot someone. Look at Ferguson. it can ruin your life. When an officer resp[onds to a call such as this he isnt listening to the FM radio thinking about what he is gonna do this weekend. He is planning the approach and running scenarios through his head hoping this wont be bad. If the officers had known the armed kid was there nothing can convince me they would have pulled up right on him rather than somewhere that has more cover and concealment

I kind of get the thin blue line point of view but imo they take it too far when they can't say that someone that broke from training should be fired. I understand split second decisions have to be made but when they result in a deadly mistake then its time to hang up the boots.

When that something stupid involves a firearm or fake firearm you're generally out of luck then.

There were guys bringing guns to the polls here in Alabama and the police were called they weren't shot. Not sure if we're open carry.

I've yet to hear of an incident of open carry where the result was a shooting or death. However, this is the 2nd time in maybe 3 months that a Cleveland 911 caller has caused someone to be shot dead. Remember Ronald Ritchie

"Swatting" people has become deadly and those responsible should be charged to the full extent of the law

You think he was trying to open up firing on the cops? He's 12 years old with an airsoft gun and they roll up on him very fast out of his direction of sight. Come the frick on you idiot. Every 12 year old in that situation is going to be scared and indecisive

What in the hell are you talking about? The likely reason they pulled up so closely is that they were trying to clear the park quickly and avoid an active shooter scenario. They likely did not know that was the suspect and were going to get him out of the area when he reached into his waistband to draw a pistol. Appeared to be a good shoot to me from what I could see.
