Did he? Pretty hard for me to take anything from that video besides the fact that they dropped him really quickly upon arrival.

Why the frick would they drive up that close to him? He's just sitting in the park. Why not proceed with caution and exit the vehicle at a safer distance. Completely avoidable.

At minium this mistake should cost this cop his job. It is a shitty situation but when you make a mistake even when its a true accident consequences have to come.

Our cops should be trained to learn how to handle situations like this without using lethal force. Thats what pisses me off. Idgaf about the race, it scares me that we have cops with this shoot first ask questions later mentality. And yea, you can say a cop has to act in self defense and protect his life as well, and thats cool, I totally agree. But they need to learn how they can avoid being in that situation in the first place. And the problem is they have the generic cop mentality that everyone here hates. Thats what gets them into situations where they feel they have to use lethal force.

THANK YOU

The fact that this is lost in all the RABBLE RABBLE of Ferguson is the most disturbing thing in all of this. Overzealous, over-militarized and ego-maniacal cops are a major problem facing our country.

nah it looks way worse than Ferguson. 1. this is a 12 year old instead of an 18 year old.
2. The cops flying into what looks like an empty park
3. jumping right out and capping the kid inside of two seconds.

Yes the kid lifts his shirt and is moving towards the car but it really looks like they could have gone about this situation a lot better. Both cops should probably be fired even if it is a complete accident and they felt justified in the shooting. If they did everything by policy then just fire them and leave it at that. If anything wasn't done by the books then they should be put on trial.

As they're pulling up, he gets up from the table, pulls the "gun" out of his waistband and walks towards the cops. Again dumb arse games, gets you dumb arse prizes. He also doesn't look like a child. It ain't a 5 year old playing with a cap gun here.

He definitely lifted his shirt. I cant tell if it was to grab a gun or pick it up. Kinda looks like the latter but honestly cant tell. Cop still reacted way too soon though.

Right. A 12 year old, probably showing the cops his fake gun. He sure as hell wasn't going to shoot with it. They didn't take any chances, for sure.

Yep, there has to be some middle ground between cops having no protection and cops having free reign to use deadly force. This is a much better case for that than any recent cases brought up.

I watched again and agree. They pulled way too close to him, which if he was crazy with a real gun would cause him to open fire. The driver put his partner in a no win situation as he was feet away from the kid. Getting out shooting doesnt' seem like the best idea, but based on the way he slipped and retreated, it definitely appears he thought his life was in danger. shite is terrible.

Easy to say from your computer chair.

The kid ripped the orange tip off and was pointing it at people in the parking lot and the cops responded and he pulled it out.

Yeah, because you see these situations from your trailer and I see them with my own eyes. I'm the blind one.

Some of you saying the cops should have handled this situation better need to be dispatched to a situation where someone is walking around with a gun, not knowing what you're really getting yourself into. Are the cops supposed to wait until they get shot at before they react?

Yea, it's frustrating to me that the "white perspective" is so pro police in these situations. shite, this board bashes cops all the time for their shoot first mentality on dogs. I think Michael Brown was a thug POS, and this kid was dumb as frick. But can we at least empathize a little bit to understand that what this cops are doing is a threat to all of us? Look at this abuse of power! This board gripes about it all the time. And instead of using this as an opportunity to protest things we always bitch about in this system: i.e. dog murders, ridiculous tickets, unwarranted raids, innocent lives lost in improper raids, police abuse, we are turning it into black vs white so that a lot of us arent even expressing our voices!

What we the "white perspective" want may not be the same as the "black perspective" but an overhaul of police departments in this country is needed. We can use these situations to demand it just as much as any other group.

What video are YOU watching? You can't see shite besides the cop car pulling up close and the kid getting up from the table, approaching the cop car and fiddling with a gun in some sort. All this "frightened child" stuff is made up in your head that isn't on the video.
