It's pretty light on the melody and harmony though. I agree it's music but I struggle with why one would marginalize 40% of what constitutes music in favor of the rest. I prefer music that has all elements in roughly equal parts.
Also, I don't really "get" rap, probably because I'm not exactly the target demographic that rap artists are aiming for.
I think if I understood the artistic thought that goes into it, it would be a lot more meaningful to me.

There are some shitty rap songs, but if you actually listen to and understand the lyrics it is by far the best music IMO. JMO though.
