What are you talking about?

Only thing I'm debating is that if we would have beat Bama that it would have changed our entire season. I don't think it would have, Steve does. That's the only thing I've debated in here. And it actually has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

People have said if they think we improved, stayed the same, or regressed in here and I haven't argued any of that. Only thing we have debated is that beating Bama would have changed the outcome of the season. That's it. And it's purely hypothetical.

Ok, got it. I think the only thing a Bama win might have changed would be the emotional aspect of the players going into the Arkansas game. The QB play and the play calling would have been the same. The result likely would have been the same. But that's just my opinion.

Let's be fair here. What about the Tards that still believe that Miles walks on water and wears a halo while he is developing such great offenses and quarterbacks and showing such great aptitude at making adjustments during a game. Duh! Tards go both ways.

Yea pretty much... Like I said, our offense was bad before Bama, bad vs Bama, and bad after Bama.

But was good enough to beat Bama...hence my point

I have no delusion that the O is good but win that Bama game and this season has an entirely different vibe.

Arkansas benefitted from the bye, as well.

LOL....this team is a much better team now than it was early in the year, and it isn't even close. You guys...I swear. LSU was probably a couple seconds away from potentially winning the SEC West (I'm saying with a win over Bama, they come to play vs arky).........most of you, probably even you, were predicting LSU to go 4-8 after Auburn. The OL is much better than early in the year, the DL is much better than early in the year, The LB's are much better, not just Beckwith, and the Db's have been solid all year....LF is much better....and Jennings has never had it......LSU has played some pretty good defenses over the last 3 games....I expect them to score 28+ tomorrow and win going away....finish the regular season 8-4, and win a bowl game....quite a far cry from 4-8.

No

Offense has definitely improved as a result of the OL improvements.

Special Teams has been mediocre to bad all season.

LOL....I see your knee-jerk posts on here, and I can't help but laugh and think about what if someone with your mentality was actually in a position to make major changes....holy mackerel....Oakland Raiders come to mind....ha

Really? Look man, I know you are an optimist but this offense is bad and the passing guy has regressed.

Offense- improved. Early in the season, the offense was a series of 3 & outs, 1 yd Fournette runs, horribly inaccurate screen attempts, and the occasional desperation bomb to Dural that worked.
Fournette has rounded into respectability, we've had a few long drives, and we've seen the QB hit the RB or FB in the hands with a screen pass. Not saying it's a high grade or anything, but it's improved over the season
Defense- clear improvement. After Wisconsin, Miss St and Auburn, I wondered if we'd have the worst defense in the conference. Now we have one of the better ones.
Special Teams- meh. Not much of a change. The coverage team improved, the placekicking dropped. Seems like there's something almost every other game.

Already thinking about next year to be honest. Offense this year was painful to watch. Not one run of 50 plus yards...not one...when has that happened. JJ and JL look like All Americans compared to the QBs. Six of the 7 top OLs may leave, four for sure. STs not pretty, LSU will probably be picked 6th or 7th in the west in 2015.

Positives: DBs were pretty good all year, the DTs and MLB spots improved. DEs were solid.Somehow despite everything LSU can win 9 games in a brutal division.

TL:DR

QB - EVEN, which is very bad. Reason why people think he looked better before was because we were hitting Dural on those deep passes, and he was an unknown. People figured our pass game out, and we have suffered since then. We also played very crappy defenses early on.

WR - EVEN Again. I think we were fooled by crappy defenses earlier on. but this unit does not create space, runs the wrong routes, drops passes, gets jammed at the line, a lot more than you would typically expect. Of course all of them are young, and with a better QB, they'd look at least respectable, but right now, they aren't that good.

TE - IMPROVED I mean they have blocked better, and rarely get a pass to them, but they have caught the recent three or four (Dickson, Stokes).

OL - IMPROVED Don't let what happened against Arky fool you, these guys imrpoved dramatically after the Auburn game. Part of it was finally getting into the new scheme, part of it was finding the right fit (Pocic at RG)

RB/FB - IMPROVED Fournette looks much sharper now than week one, but they all do. Part of that has to do with the OL not sucking complete arse. Also, getting the right rotation and involving them in passing game has given us a little more versatility. The FBs have gotten back on the right track as well (except for that drop by Jones).

DL - IMPROVED What can I say? This unit has changed drastically from the first game. All of them are tackling machines. They don't get much penetration, but they are good at the point of attack. Godchaux is going to be a monster moving forward.

LB - IMPROVED Kwon was at first our only decent LB, but since Beckwith has been starting, this unit has done a complete 180. He's having a much better first year than Minter had, and hasn't started nearly as many games. This guy will be our commander on defense next year.

CB - EVEN. Haven't seen any improvement, but also haven't seen any regression. White seems to be our best corner, and Collins has done well enough. We really miss Thomas creating havoc at nickel and maybe Robinson would have found his sea legs after his earlier slump, but the guy has been lazy with his school business.

S - IMPROVED Part of it is because Simon, but most of it is Adams. The guy is a straight beast and is all over the place on the field. We need more guys like that.

Extra
Our DBs aren't as cocky as before, and we need to bring that back. We are 5th in pass defense, but that has as much to do with the play by the front 7, as it has to do with the secondary. Prime example is that during the MSU and Auburn games in the first half of the year, our secondary looked like garbage against some very erratic passers. Since our front 7 has woken up, it has made the back 4 look much improved. Another problem is turnovers. Defense doesn't create many at all. As a matter of fact, we have only created 4 turnovers in the last four games. Mathieu had 8 as a true sophomore himself in 2011. Actually, he and Claiborne had 14 as a tandem. Actually, Mathieu, Claiborne, and Reid had 18 in 2011, our squad as a whole has 18 in 2014. That is not going to cut it.

Jennings has not gotten better and Harris hasn't played any decent snaps since week six. IMO the coaches are more to blame for the inept passing game than the players. I also wish that we'd play Dodd the rest of the year at center and keep Pocic at LG. We can work two guys who will still be here next year if we do it like that.

With all that said, I think we still beat the Ags by 2 touchdowns today
