I don't know where these idiots come up with their ideas of what is and is not good law.

It seems there is actually a compromise agreed to by both parties to cut taxes on business. It is basically a bundle of special interest tax credits.

LINK

quote:

Advocates in both parties said the emerging accord will lock in tax breaks that otherwise are passed in short-term increments, year after year. That will give the economy more certainty while extending businesses tax benefits that already have broad bipartisan support. And Senate Democrats said they cut the best deal possible before Republicans take over next year.

But Mr. Obama and White House Chief of Staff Denis R. McDonough personally stepped in, launching a furious round of calling Tuesday afternoon to see if they could muster enough Democratic support to sustain a veto.

The tax measure would make permanent 10 provisions, including an expanded research and development tax credit, which businesses have wanted to be made permanent for years; a measure allowing small businesses to deduct virtually any investment; the deduction for state and local sales taxes, the American Opportunity Tax Credit for college costs; deductions for employer-provided mass transit and parking benefits; and four different breaks for corporate and charitable giving.

Smaller measures already passed by the Senate Finance Committee would be extended for one year, and retroactively for the current tax year, from tax breaks for car-racing tracks to benefits for race horse owners.

The tax credit for wind power would phase out and end after 2017.

Left off were the two tax breaks most valued by liberal Democrats: a permanently expanded earned-income credit and child tax credit for the working poor.

We desperately need business tax cuts but to do it in such a manner is just insane.

How about this--lower the rate and allow for tax purposes 100% deductions of investment in assets in the year of the expenditure.

End the special interest credits---even the purposed R&D credit--and give us a simpler, smarter tax bill.

We have the highest or second highest in the World. How about lowering them, and bring some back(business) from overseas. Then, the job creation here, will produce some income from something called ....workers. I know its bold, but we need job growth, and we need businesses to do that. More Gov't just sucks, literally our tax money up..

I don't see a problem with any of the above.

frick Obama and his petulant BS. We finally have some bipartisan agreement on sensible legislation and he threatens veto. I hope they have enough support to override it. This goes to show he doesn't want bipartisanship, he wants it his way or the highway and his way is very anti business.

You don't see a problem with R&D tax credits??? and the doors that opens to categorizing expenses in order to get the credits?

You think you should be given only deductions for your expenses while someone else get credits??

Who cares about the American Opportunity Tax Credits?

All of these things are just feel good bells and whistles and do not replace general tax reform and cuts.

I can't decide whether the first sentence lacking a subject is a simple grammatical error or highly refined cognitive dissonance

Look I am glad Obama plans to veto this crap.

He is vetoing it for different reasons than I support his veto but I am glad he is.

This special tax deal for this group and special credit of that group and this "jump through this hoop" tax structure is complex, stupid, unfair.

They need to cut taxes but not like this. This sucks.

They need an across the board cut FOR EVERY BUSINESS and end special interest credits and deductions.

Who are the idiots that down voted my call for a simpler, lower tax instead of this hodge podge special invest tax bill.

I don't always agree with you... actually I can't think of a single time right now... ... but I am 100% with you on this. Special deductions are especially stupid. Unfortunately 60% of businesses likely depend on special deductions, its the remaining 40% who ave to make up the difference. .

This is a win/lose in my mind because:

- it is always good when businesses get to keep more of thier hard earned money

- it is always bad when government picks the winners and losers, especially through crony capitalism

The same direction taxes are headed concerning the public taxpayer's situation. More people getting on government assistance but less people having to finance it.

We finally comprehend the same thing.
