He has an interception % of 2.38 season, which falls at 9 for a career average

For his career, he's tied with Peyton Manning has an interception % of 2.6% for his career

Drew got his money. He deserves every penny. The failure re: protection fall at the feet of the front office. I no longer trust in Loomis.

Can't blame Loomis on Evans performance/injury/dropoff imo.

Most all-pro HOF-caliber lineman can play at a high level til their mid 30s.

He paid the arguably best guard in the league at the time in 2010 to a 7yr 56.7mil contract that would make him a Saint for life. Came into the league in 2006, signed a 3yr contract, started from day 1. Got the highest RFA tag in 2009 (1st and 3rd), and proceeded to play very well

Went to the superbowl, voted for pro bowl, and selected as a 1st team all-pro in 2009.

Got a big contract at a very young age of 27, continued his great play for 3.5 more seasons after that contract, and was one of the highest rated guards in the league in that span:
2010 - Pro Bowl/All-Pro (1st)
2011 - Pro Bowl/All-Pro (1st)
2012 - Pro Bowl/All-Pro (1st)
2013 - Injury, but bounced back nicely in the 2nd half Pro Bowl/All-Pro (2nd)
2014 - Dead as nails

No one could have predicted the fall/decline in performance. Not when he was playing exceptionally well for the years prior. It isn't like it was some fluke high level of play either, he was annually top 5 rated guy over and over.

Yep, and while he was inconsistent last year, he was still a top level guard who was dominant when healthy.

Everyone thought Jahri's spot would be a huge position of strength for us.

We took some risks at corner this year signing Champ as our #2 and it blew up in our face. We all loved the Byrd signing, but in hindsight a 2nd shutdown corner in FA would have been nice.

Not sure what else you can blame him for.

What is Nicks up to these days? Did he just get fat after his injuries and payday?

ik he signed a settlement agreement, but I wonder if he's trying to make a comeback at all. Payton was always on his arse about his work ethic

MRSA infection was bad enough it ate into his nerves and he has pain from just simply walking.

For a position that requires immense footwork, he's done for life.

What is he in attempts? I'd argue we're throwing far too much at times as well which exacerbates the problem.

It doesn't help either that they haven't been able to run the ball the last 2 games. Penetration allowed by the guards & Goodwin getting blown up isn't allowing for much running room.

Yeah, the MRSA almost cost him his foot & nerve damage was too much to try to play with. He's done.

Sack % rate when pressured of 8% (Aaron Rodgers is at 19.4%)
so Rodgers would rather take a sack than throw an interception?

it would probably be better

how many interceptions were thrown when brees was pressured?

Rodgers throws a lot less than Brees and takes extremely deep drops. He holds onto the ball longer and always has. Brees doesn't have that lux

We would have lost the Ravens game by 30.

Believe he has 7 with three coming in 1 game that we won

He has a lower interception rate this year than his career average despite the huge increase in pressure.

2 vs TB (yeah, lets not go back to that)
1 vs Cleveland (technically as he let go of it, he got hit...so that was bad luck and not bad judgement like the others)
1 vs Detroit (forced it because of pressure)
1 vs Baltimore

So half, and 1-3 in those 4 games. No one is denying he's forcing it, but no one is openly blaming the OL for a piss poor year either.

Is there a link for the source of these stats?

I know it's popular opinion on here to want a corner in the first, but that's a total crap shoot.

If there's one thing the Saints are good at it's developing offensive linemen. That needs to be thoroughly addressed in the draft. Protect Brees and odds are we win much more than we lose.

Didn't we lose an all pro Guard because Drew said it wasn't about the money when he turned down 19 mil for 20? And we lost the bid on the Guard who went to Tampa.
So hey Drew, get your 100 million dollar arse up and play. Sorry but I don't think any player is worth 100 mil, name ONE QB who has won the SB after they broke the 100 million dollar bank.

Certainly has forced the issue on some throws, but that pick six he definitely was under some pressure. He hasn't been able to smoothly step up in the pocket like he has in the past.

He was really on point last game outside of that terrible throw on the pick six.

The Saints need to draft an OL in the first round for once. When was the last time they took one in the first? I believe the number is zero under Payton but he took two first round RB's.

thats good to see since the pressure has been relentless this year. IMO, sometimes he could have made better decisions in the face of that pressure though.

dont get me wrong, i do not think he has lost a step. with some of the bombs he has thrown this year and that spin move TD throw, he still has IT. just needs better protection
