They are tear gassing areas around the police department, in areas that were set aside for peaceful protests. Meanwhile the city with all of the businesses and residences are left without any police or order. They had months to plan for this and they seem to have zero coordination.

They're burning cars and looting right there. It's not a peaceful protest.

MSNBC reported no gas being used, only smoke.

Where the looting of the liquor store is I don't see any cops.

I really don't think that's tear gas. I think the CNN reporters are just stupid - it appears to have the effects of just regular smoke to me.

If that were tear gas, they'd been dispersed a long time ago. A normal person can't be around that shite for more than 30 seconds without becoming extremely uncomfortable.

Setting cars on fire and breaking glass with bats, looting electronic stores and liquor stores is not peaceful protest. You are outta touch chief.

Just trying to avoid confrontation, as asked.

If they were there they would be accused of drinking on duty.

I have no idea why they left live ammo in the few police cars that they left parked on the side of the street right outside of the protest area.

I'll bet those Ferguson citizens are stepping up and fighting the man and building the community.

Oh STFU "independent." You are going to complain regardless. If they go in there with real force, you're going to bitch. If they don't do enough, you're going to bitch.

Personally, I wish they'd start kicking some real arse instead of coddling these asses. They're looting local businessmen who are as much a part of the community as these disgruntled shitheads.

CNN just mentioned that they said that but CNN said they have some experienced crew members and security who are saying it definitely is tear gas. Apparently some police threatened another crown and CNN reporter with tear gas if they didn't disperse.
