Never say never but right now it looks like this team is going to have a long season. I always say when people get excited in the offseason about one player or another that it doesn't mean a thing till they get on the court. This is proving true again.

Up to this point Gray and Hornsby are not playing anywhere near what was advertised. When Quarterman is our best guard we are in trouble. Martin is so overrated it is laughable. He basically has one thing he is good at. Flying down the court and slamming it which is spectacular but not near enough.

Mickey is playing great but could be even greater. He gets pushed around on defense and gives up too many easy shots next to the basket. Late in the game today he was wide open and could have dribbled five feet closer to take his jump shot but instead just gunned it up from near three point line.

We don't have a good three point shooter on the team. Free throws killed us today and were the difference in the game. No one plays with confidence and we look lost.

They need to regroup and do it quickly or this season will be tough.

I was really hoping for a lot this year, too.

It's still early, but unless this team can find its rhythm and start playing with some discipline, this year will be a massive disappointment.

We ply FLA twice, UK twice, and WVA….8 losses right there. We aren't winning every other game and we are not getting into the tournament

It really is. Everything on offense is predicated on winning one on one matchups. There are very few times where the offensive scheme frees guys up for open shots.

From every aspect, the defense is just atrocious.

After watching today, it is hard to argue with any of the comments.

Hickey was apparently a punk but dammit we're missing him. He and Stringer brought a fire to last year's team any time we needed some momentum. I know we're only five games in but I don't see anyone like that right now. Hopefully Gray can prove me wrong.

Jones seems like a nice guy, but Alleva let the BBQ club dictate that hiring.

I feel like this team just doesn't care. No passion

And we're stuck with him for at least 2 more years!

This team misses JOB more than anyone. This team would have a chance to be GREAT with him. We have no big that can dominate the post this year and that's the difference, IMO

There was pressure from Dale Brown and the former players to hire Jones. He was literally not, and never would have been a candidate for any other job in America but LSU. I think JA tried to find a bigger name to silence the "Johnny Jones" faction. When he couldn't, he just hired Jones to prevent a mutiny from those formerly associated with LSU basketball

I bet against his north Texas coached team on a consistent basis. His game day, coaching is right up there with miles. He better recruit his arse off.

Dale was bound and determined from his time here that, by damned, Johnny Jones would eventually be the HC at LSU. This was no secret.

"We don't have a good three point shooter on the team. Free throws killed us today"

Fix these two problems and they will win 80% of remaining games

Could it be they were just tired legs after playing 3 games in 4 days. I can't believe they are that bad. If they are we in for a terrible year again

Exactly. NIT would be a realistic goal for this team. These losses this weekend will probably hurt those chances come selection time. Hopefully they get some breaks to go their way and they can at least be in the discussion of NIT.
