First, let me preface by saying I'm not doing it, but as I was looking at the standings in my league today, I noticed something different and it begged me to think about it.

Our playoffs start next week and I am in first place in my division with a first round bye locked up (regardless of this week's result).

My question is, in terms of fantasy integrity, do I deserve it to the rest of the league to start my by best team OR should I start my worst players in hopes that I lose to the 5th place team in my division giving a decent chance he might jump into a playoff spot.

Does it take away from the integrity of the league or would it be me playing within the rules and giving myself the best chance to win? As far as I know, it's something that we haven't had happen before and not sure how I would feel about it I was on the other end, but I'm guessing that would all depend on whether I was the team potentially getting bounced or the tam potentially bouncing in.

Is this common practice in other leagues or some bitch arse shite?

Losing a game, especially on purpose, before the playoffs is just bad mojo.

My ONLY issue is our league does not require teams to start a player at every position.

It's not apples to apples, but if someone did a bad week drafting and has 4 players all on byes on the same week, they can basically opt to lose one game (over dropping players off his roster) for a strong team the rest of the season. Other teams (once they are out of contention)sometimes stop picking up players if they have no bye replacements.

I think it's a rule we may have to look at next year.

You use whatever legal tactics that are available to win it all. Similar strategies are used in chess and no one bitches.

A few years ago the hottest team in my league was in fifth going into the final week and I was playing the team in fourth. 4 team playoffs and I was a lock for the 1 seed no matter what. I tanked to the 4th seed so I wouldn't see the hot team in the playoffs.

I won it all that year.

Did this exact same thing last year. Tanked the last game to get a different team in the first round. It was my first round opponent so it affected me directly. I'f the other team doesn't like it then they should of drafted better and not have their fate in someone else's hands. It's fair game if it affects the person tanking. If you're out of contention and tank to get someone in then it's wrong Imo

I was 9-0 in a league on here. Playoffs locked up. Last week I didn't start a kicker because I didn't want to drop anyone. But I'm putting my best players in every week even though it means nothing to me.

Same as the league I'm 3-8 on in here. I'm rostering who I think gets the most points.

I don't see the "tanking to help a shite team" mentality. Do that and you'll face that team in the playoffs and every jackwad he has will go off.

In a league where the standings are decided by h2h, it's definitely fair game to try to play the bad team that got lucky instead of the leader in total scoring that had some tough match-ups over the course of the season and is getting a bad seed.

If you were fighting for that last playoff spot and the team ahead of you got a layup because their opponent tanked it..how would you like it. I think it insults the integrity of fantasy to do shite like that. Man up and win the game

I would be pissed at either have a bad draft and/or bad luck through the season. I'd give a silent nod to the owner that kept me out. That's good game play.
