Black crime has been plummeting for 20 years. You got any other armchair theories?

Crime is only one measure of the destruction of the black family. Unemployability,?due to "keeping it real", is a far bigger problem. When anti-social behaviors become culturally accepted norms among a subset of the population, there is very little hope for that group.

there has been a decided lack of responsibility towards the black family. Within that timeframe, "baby-mama's" have replaced wives. This generation (or the last) had fathers but took a decided turn.

I agree

Government programs will not help and in fact worsen the problem.

I agree, with a few exceptions. Certain grants available to poor minorities starting up their own business/financial endeavors serve a beneficial role for instance as it rewards work ethic.

quote:

That same lack responsibility will prevent the change from within. Is it due to apathy or resentment towards the establishment (which they played a prominent part of once)? I hope it's not the latter, but I just don't see the desire to change

I would argue that affluent black "leaders" standing to benefit from the continuation of the current system is as much to blame as anything. Imagine how much good it would do if tomorrow every Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Barack Obama began lecturing on the necessity of work ethic, sexual and financial responsibility and the importance of education?

This is really it right here.

LBJ knew what he was doing, and it worked beautifully.

The successful black middle class family really isn't as rare and mythical as this board seems to think. But marriage as the primary building block of a middle class life may be even more obvious in that community.

But as long as we're naming culprits, how about the politicalization of the black church? Church and state mingle to the detriment of both. (And I'm no fan of the role white churches play on the other side, either.)

More what...than who. Which is societal, mud-on-the-wall evolution.

Many Blacks never marry...but White families are divorcing probably at near the same rates. And you can believe that a lot of White, single women vote Socialist Dem...to ensure that the Government fills the economic role of having no husband.

Hell, 20 years from now people will have children without the sex if they so desire/can afford it; or any need of the former husband/wife familial model. That woman's womb stuff will be obsolete; being highly problematic...in regard to those pesky stretch marks.

Fascinating!

The Black leaders of Africa. They sold blacks into slavery. How come you never hear this during black history month.

Super original thread, bringing up a topic that has never been discussed on this board. Will read again (probably next week sometime)

We can thank the 3 strikes laws for that. A great many of the hardcore criminals of all races are behind bars nowadays due to the fact that 27 states have 3-strikes laws.
