Life is not like a book

There is probably not a more incorrect simile in the history of human language than comparing life to a book. Books can be controlled. The sad and bad parts can be skipped, the pages ripped out and burned. The great and joyful parts can be read over and over again. And just because the page is turned, doesn't mean those admirable lines are gone until the end of all things.
Books tell you when new chapters start, they tell you immediately when there is change. Books don't lull you into passivity that makes you forget that happy times are always fleeting. Books give you ample time to understand them. You can experience a part over and over again until you finally understand the meanings of the lines.
A book can be shut and never read again, and that doesn't result in the death of the reader, he will simply find a new one to immerse himself in. The best passages of books that bring the most euphoria are not put in locked boxes by time, unable to be accessed again. A better saying would be "We wish life were like a book".
In fact, the happiest people in the world are those that accept that their life will never be a book. The most miserable people in the world are those that go their entire life trying to make it one. They'll be buried in the earth with emptiness and disappointment.
We read books because we can't experience a book-like existence simply by living. A man who reads is a man who is fighting the incessant decay and fleetingness that is constantly around him. Books are temporary shields that both enlighten and protect us. But the secret to living a content life is accepting that your life will never be a book, no matter how hard to you try to and fail to make it one. The secret is to remain firm in your belief that the next day will be a happy one, for you can't experience life by trying to live through the past. The hands on the clock, hands that never stop, prevent that from happening.

I wonder wonder who, be-do-do who
Who wrote the book of love
Tell me, tell me, tell me
Oh who wrote the book of love
I've got to know the answer
Was it someone from above
I wonder wonder who, be-do-do who
Who wrote the book of love
I, I love you darlin'
Baby you know I do
But I've got to see this book of love
Find out why it's true
I wonder wonder who, be-do-do who
Who wrote the book of love
Chapter one says you love her
You love her with all your heart
Chapter two you tell her
You never, never, never, never, ever wanna part
In chapter three remember
The meaning of romance
In chapter four you break up
But you give her just one more chance
Oh I wonder wonder who, be-do-do who
Who wrote the book of love
Baby, baby, baby
I love you yes I do
Well it says so in this book of love
Are's is the one that's true
Oh I wonder wonder who, be-doooo who
Who wrote the book of love
Oh I wonder wonder who, be-do-do who
Who wrote the book of love
Baby, baby, baby
I love you yes I do
Well it says so in this book of love

Only if you think the book on your life should read like you are told it should read, and when it doesn't measure up to the standard set for you you will be disappointed.
The book on my life is for me to read not you.

Well, life is certainly not like the giving tree. That tree was a fricking dumbass. Oh, great, you're back. You want to grind up my roots, now, cause all I have are fricking roots and this fricking stump you ignorant entitled little bastard. Come sit on my stump where I hope you fricking die and rot and then as your body decays you can at least nourish my roots until we become part of the same detritus. How's that fricking boat you built? Oh, you sold it? Nice. Not like I needed my limbs or anything. How's the Mrs.? Oh, your fricking old and alone! Well boo fricking hoo, you fricking piece of shite. Here, have an apple, oh, wait! fricking a-hole.

I'm thinking you got some mixed messages from that book. I've never read a synopsis of the giving tree quite like that.

When you learn that life sucks and that if you are getting laid regularly and not having to deal with a lot of shite while doing so.. then you are succeeding... at that point is when you will understand what it is to grab the world by the balls.

Dear diary,
Today I learned the secret to living from a self-important douche-bag on the internet.
Thanks guy

What about comic books? I'm a big Sgt. Rock fan.

So, is the point of your lengthy post? If so, you should have just said it and spared us the long "book" like post.

You clearly don't read George R.R. Martin.

Actually, many lives are like picaresque novels.
