I did, thanks to Obama lowering the prices for us by being better at geopolitics than Vladimir Putin.

Why do you ask?

Yes. I purchased several gallons.

Regular. 87 octane.

I've already run a few gallons of it through an internal combustion engine and produced lots of CO2 with it.

And yes, I have children. (At least the wife says they are mine)

Actually, yes. Bought ethanol free gas! Will continue to do so now that it's available near me.

Let me guess where you're going with this - Barbara Boxer's slide show yesterday during the Keystone XL Pipeline debate. Port Arthur, TX, refinery pics showing smoke in the background of a children's park. Boxer's claims that children would suffer if pipeline is approved. Asthma, other respiratory diseases, etc. Refining oil is bad for children and all living things, thus if you buy gasoline, you hate children and are trying to ruin their health. Etc., etc., etc.

I bought some gas last week, so my son could use it to get the paint off his hands after painting my house.

You're close. It was Tom Harken of Iowa. "Every dollar spent on fossil fuel is a dollar spent on digging the grave of your children."

If only this wasn't simple to disprove.

The average cost of gas in January of 2009 was $1.89

Right. Because we were in a deep recession. Leading up to the recession gas prices were at historical highs and have not returned to those levels since.

We won't see $1.89 gas again unless there is another economic collapse

I could understand if this happened in 1963, but it's 2008. You lived it and you don't even recall the facts. It's embarrassing how the narrative on gas prices has been spouted on this board.

If Obama has had any effect on prices it's that they are dropping now that he's reached lame duck status.
