Update pg 5. Tentative agreement reached to televise all 2015 LSU baseball games

The SEC network, ESPN and Cox Communications have agreed (tentatively) to carry ALL of LSU's baseball regular season games next season, at least in the Baton Rouge market for Cox.
If finalized as it is now, the SEC network will televise 13 SEC games, Cox will carry 7 road games, including the Minute Maid tournament in Houston, the ESPN stations (ESPN, ESPN2 & ESPNU) will carry an as yet undecided number of other games and all other games not carried by the above networks will be on ESPN3 with announcers and replay, not the Geaux Zone, video-only type of coverage.
There are a few details to be worked out which, hopefully, won't crash the whole thing, but the paperwork was received by LSU on Monday of this week for LSU's review and approval.

Goddammit I thought Cox didn't have any more.

Glad I can actually watch the game at home now instead of getting drunk and walking home from Justin's Bar and Grill all the time

I look forward to the day when Cox no longer exists, or at least no longer carries LSU sports.

Really hope this goes through. Mostly for the away games. Obviously, I'll be making as many home games as possible

I've always thought they did a pretty good job with baseball games, even those Lynn Rollins is annoying. Great news to have all games televised though!

That's actually extremely good

Would you rather the games not be televised at all instead of Cox? They aren't going to appear on Fox Sports anymore.

I got the sense from Mainieri that if there is a hold up, it will be on LSU's part and not the networks since they have all agreed to the plan from their standpoint.
I sense LSU might have some concerns what the impact of televising 100% of home games might have on actual attendance.

So you got the sense from yourself?

quote:Geaux Zone had them anyway but people had to pay for it which was fine with them. So it's a money issue? Doesn't LSU get paid for these games being televised? Don't they benefit by expanding the game to more people more often more easily? Not necessary directed at you, just thinking out loud.
