Great to hear, hope we see this finalized soon. Looks like the only problem games for us out-of-staters will be those non-conference road games.

Geaux Zone had them anyway but people had to pay for it which was fine with them. So it's a money issue? Doesn't LSU get paid for these games being televised? Don't they benefit by expanding the game to more people more often more easily? Not necessary directed at you, just thinking out loud.

Any home games not on network TV are part of the SECN+ online coverage. I don't think LSU has any say on that. It was part of the SEC Network contract.

Then who is Cox paying? ESPN? Even then LSU is still getting money from ESPN (although it's a contracted, set amount regardless). I'm not familiar with how all of this works.

And even still, I think it's important to get these games to as many people as possible.

This is my understanding as well. SECN+ will carry all home and all SEC games on WatchESPN, leaving only the 7 non-conference road games up in the air.

The only games Cox could televise are non-conference road games. Schools gave up their third tier TV rights (which is what Cox is in this case) when the signed the SEC Network deal. I have no idea who Cox or Jumbo would have to pay to televise those OOC games. Or honestly why LSU would care if they televise them or don't.

Then why would LSU care about home attendance with this deal if it doesn't change those games TV schedule?

ETA: Saw your edit... that's the point I was trying to get at

OK, and since we have 7 of those, Cox will be televising all of them. Looks like Louisiana is covered for everything.

They make very, very little off concessions. Groups often "volunteer" and get a hefty cut of what's generated. It's how church groups, high school sports teams, etc. can make a little extra money.

Point is I don't think LSU has much say on whether the home games are on TV/online broadcast or not.

If so then that's a change since Bertman was the HC. He was always proud of how much money the baseball program was generating from selling "groceries" as he used to refer to concessions.

I'm under the impression that LSU gets a % of the gross sales from concessions. If anyone knows factually how concessions' revenues are split up, I'd be interested in learning.

I'd be interested to know it, too. And I know they get some money, obviously.

But the scenario I gave is how it's done now. I know because I've been a part of a group that has taken advantage of it.
