Benefits of American Express Platinum?

So I got my invite to apply for an American Express Platinum. The annual fee is only $450. Anyone have one and is it really worth it?

If you fly a lot: Probably
if you don't fly a lot: Probably not
If you are offered a huge signup bonus and will use those points on a trip and then cancel in a year? Probably

I fly DL a lot (sky club) and 2 of my main airports have a Centurion lounge so for me, it makes sense. You get $200 towards airline fees which you can buy eCerts with so to me, it brings the annual fee down to $250.

I took the PRG instead. Have over 95000 points in 6 months.

It also reimburses you for TSA pre-check. I have the Delta version of the Amex Platinum and its worth it to me

OP: Here's a LINK to Flyertalk's AmEx page. There are lots of threads discussing the pros/cons of the Platinum card. I think the consensus is: it's worth it if you use it right and take advantage of your perks.

this nailed it. there is also a mercedes benz version that has some valuable perks for anyone that leases a mercedes.

Started with the $25k bonus. Got another 15k point bonus at $30k spent. Airline tickets are 3X and gas and groceries are 2X.

nope. Segments means you have to do a MR.
I did one two years ago on a multi city ticket and went to BHM twice on a Saturday and Sunday. Sadly this is the only way to do it for Segment flyers.

You could sign up for the DL branded Amex Platinum / Reserve for the MQM bonus. Otherwise id go on a mileage run website and see if something will top you off.
Double MQMs til EOY flying in/out of SEA... Google the promo. That bonus got me diamond this year

MQM's don't help segment flyers. Only way for you to get segments is to put your butt in a seat
