Yeah New Mexico State isn't anybody, but for a true freshman to do that. How bad is Arkansas? Loosing 17 straight conference games and we laid a goose egg on em.

Harris played in the gun in NMST, he put up 63.
Harris played in the gun in Auburn, he put up 7.
The rest of the Auburn game, he played under center and we did absolutely nothing

If we want Harris to succeed if he is to play in the A&M game, he needs to play from the gun and coaches must play to his skill set

If Les played everyone to their skill set, like most coaches do, then who knows where this team would be. I just want to know why Les recruits 5/4 stars like Fournette, Malachi, Quinn and Brandon when you don't utilize them to their skill set. Perfect example - Russell Shepard.

I think that's part of the problem. CLM is stubborn and doesn't like change. If he did he would attempt to get a pass rush. He would try new guys to see if they could get pressure. Also, he would try a new guy at QB . He doesn't like change.mi agree with you though

Not sure what point you are trying to make. The 4-wr sets with the qb in shotgun formation does not equal running the "spread offense", which involves run/pass reads.

I wonder if the coaches worried about hurting Harris' confidence after how he played at Auburn. Maybe they're trying to protect him.

Leaving Jennings on the field after his god awful performance doesn't exactly life Harris' confidence either.

If there's one thing that's a great idea, it is taking two guys who can't throw and putting them in an offense that makes them throw all the time.

Why aren't they protecting Jennings then? He's the worst QB in the country right now.

If I'm Harris today, I'm wondering how much my coach thinks I suck. I mean, if he wouldn't put me in Saturday, when the hell would he?

New Mexico State is plain terrible. There are only four teams out of 128 that have a worse computer ranking.

and Jennings made them look like an all-world defense for a quarter. SMH.

Thank you chicken for saying that. Didn't Anthony Jennings have what, a fumble and 2 int in that game?

Not every spread offense involves run/pass reads like the read-option. Harris is a spread read-option QB with 3 rushing TDs and the longest run of the year. The spread with Harris in the shotgun is not the same as an A&M Air Raid passing spread, but it most certainly is a spread offense involving run/pass reads with Harris being a very legitimate running threat.

in less than a full quarter, actually.

imagine if they left him in like they did vs. arky, he might have set some records.

And with Jennings ranked 125th in completion accuracy he had obviously met his match with NMST.
