I have been dealing with this for quite a bit, I do take meds. Its very frustrating, some days are better then others. It has gotten somewhat better. Generally I get panic attacks just at nighttime for some reason out of no where. Have any of yall overcome this?

My wife deals with the exact same thing. She just recently started taking medicine, and it has helped a little but not much.

It's really hard on her, and it's hard on me too sometimes - because there's literally nothing I can do to make it better.

Hang in there...

I haven't had a full blown panic attack in about 8 years.

My wife has had them often. It seems sex has helped her (not joking).

If you need my help let me know.

Self-medication.

If I'm sober, I worry about the smallest things.

Remember to breathe. Sounds stupid but when you are waiting for that panic or trigger you are probably holding your breath. Which makes you more tense and hyper vigilant to whatever your symptoms are normally.

Yeah, controlled breathing for two minutes at a time helps.

Yes. Breathing techniques, cognitive therapy, and anti-depression medications work well. Beta blockers are also a great choice because they are relatively safe and can just be popped as needed. They reduce the symptoms of anxiety rather than treat the overall problem.

Many go through this. You will learn over time to just say frick it. Generally work related unhappiness causes it but obviously many other things could too. You will learn over time as you feel the anxiety approaching to just take a deep breath and say to yourself it just isn't worth stressing over.

A very scary truth. When I was at my worst I refused to drink. It was a daily grind of misery. Wife and I grabbed dinner and I had a beer. It all washed away. So I had 2 and STOPPED. that's a very slippery slope. Alcohol works magic. For one night. A hangover and panic attack is a true bitch.

I drink a few beers, and/or a glass or two of bourbon a day. Otherwise, I smoke so much that I forget what I'm worried about. I take mushrooms, and sometimes other psychedelics, to confront major problems if I have them.

It works for me, but I may very well die an early death. Oh well.

I used to, I think mine was more social anxiety but I know how you feel. Like you said I would just lay in bed and panic for no reason or be in public and panic. I took medication for a few years, then told my doctor one day I didn't want to take them anymore. I've been good since then, I learned that nothing was really that scary. I found that the best way for me to get better was to push myself to do things that terrified me. When it was over I felt better and it got easier each time. I still panic from time to time but it's getting less and less frequent. Take a few deep breaths and push through it. I also pray a lot. Good luck bro.

I really appreciate it everyone!! Thank you for the support. I take it one day at a time, I am fortunate to have great people in my life who care so much about me, they make it so much better. I will overcome this one day, it will take some time though

Breath in for 6, hold for 7, breath out for 8.

Clinically proven to calm you down...or at least that's what my college prof said...he had a nose ring like Beebop
