You'll get a lot of "liberal bias" type responses but I must say that it's just a slightly above average show. I like it but don't love it.

It's pretentious.

Nothing like the West Wing. I can deal with political bias, but you'd swear the reporters are saving the world in every episode.

The second season was much better than the first season.

I like it. Pretentious people don't bother me though. This season has been kick arse so far.

It all really depends on what you think about The West Wing. If you think Sorkin's characters and dialogue are smart and believable you'll probvably like it. If you think Martin Sheen took a typical paper thin Sorkin character and singlehandedly overcame adolescent writing and predictable plotlines to make West Wing a compelling drama . . .

In full disclosure, I'm not a huge Sorkin guy, I watched the first three or four episodes. Didn't like it. The pretentious idealism was annoying. The dialogue seems so unbelievable because no one thinks or talks that fast all the time in every single conversation they have. The best parts for me were when they would go into the methods of how the modern media directs how a story is delivered, and there wasn't enough of that. Seemed like a bunch of melodrama wrapped in a supposed grandiose package.

It's got it's moments of offbeat and comedic dialogue Sorkin is known for but it plays favorites with the leftist side of things. It's not a long series so you won't spend much time on it whether you enjoy it or not so I'd say give it a watch.

FIFY.

The show had the opportunity to tell a story of what journalism SHOULD BE and being fair to political animals of all stripes but instead it ends up being episode after episode of characters surrounded by a plot which exists almost solely to support the progressive political and cultural points Sorkin wants to make, often in non sequitur monologues.

Also, this show was prententious enough but It sure as shite didn't help us out seperating the politics from entertainment when it constantly disparaged republicans and libertarians while giving democrats and left leaning independents a free pass. It's slanted one sided garage with an obvious agenda that doesn't care one iota about entertainment.

Imo, this show is a good watch for liberals and independents who lean left. This show would be much more popular if it trashed the shite out of everybody and that includes, libertarians, democrats and republicans. That's what would qualify as separating the politics from entertainment and helping its viewers out in that regard.

Awesomely put. The Newsroom is a complete POS and one of the worst shows I've ever seen.

My favorite show on tv right now. - can't beliee it had such a short life. It is the most intelligently witty show I can recall. Well developed plots, incredible dialogue. If it had a few more seasons it would easily make my top 5.

Obviously not a show for you. It nor any other show has the obligation to tell a story of what (insert profession) should be.

totally agree. The Conservative speech in the pilot got all the Reps. on board and then he just threw That characters morality in the trash.

I watch and enjoy it. My advice would be to watch it and decide for yourself. We have a season thread you're more then welcome to jump into if you get caught up.
