Also consider Coquette. It's a place I usually am down on, but I went again last night, and of the 6 or 7 times I've been it was phenomenally better than any other visit. Top 3 meal I've had in Nola this year.

So, decline is not real after all.

I would consider August and the tasting menu they have with the wine pairings or Gautreaus and whatever specials they are running.

As far as I'm concerned, no longer. I went to Lilette the night before and while superb Coquette clearly outshined it this go 'round.

Had the:

farro with head cheese, duck liver, frisee, chanterelles
lump crab meat with butternut squash puree, boiled quail egg, pickled mushrooms
hangar steak with brussel sprouts, whipped potatoes, red onion, collard greens
fried chicken thighs w/ pimento cheese ravioli, carrot slaw and satsumas

Everything was fantastic. Especially that fried chicken dish - flavor was deep and outstanding.

I still contend their 5 course "blind" tasting isn't worth it though, and that announcing you're ending happy hour lacks grace.

Did they have any baramundi?

Jokes aside, I'd say August if you wanted to go next level. Coquette is not quite as "fancy," but the food is really good.

Still haven't gone to Herbsaint and I loathe myself for that.

You said it was goat cheese? Pimento is even more interesting.

Yeah I was mistaken. Ole girl corrected me. As is the norm.

Wine list was really interesting too - had a really cool Spanish white that was great (Doniene Gorrondona Bizkaiko Txakolina) and a interesting Spanish red (Rotllan Torra Priorat).

Get back over there soon, they're firing on all cylinders.

Out of those choices, I'd likely do Gautreau's, but for that occasion, I'd go to Commander's. I've been hearing great things about the menu and specials lately, plus I find it festive. Better start trying for reservations soon wherever you choose. Some of those may already be filling up. Congrats.
