pretty crazy considering how bad the ad is at marketing basketball games.

And how bad the team is at winning basketball games

they made the texas tech game a student priority point game. I wonder if they'll even advertise it on campus. you would think they'd have all kinds of giveaways but the lsu bball marketing team tends to not care too much for marketing lsu bball

Those numbers are horseshite paid attendance figures. The actual crowds for the most part came nowhere near averaging over 8000 per game.

You can't shove basketball down people's throats. People know when the games are….they will either come or not come. Either people like coming or they don't…and around here most people don't. When this team starts to win, the interest will pick back up. No amount of marketing, giveaways, or other AD bullshite will help. Just win, baby.

I would say there were no more than 3500 Saturday. I'm going to miss the Tuesday night game with the 830 start

There are a lot of crappy start times this year that will hold attendance down, IMO. There is not a single mid-week game this year that starts at 7:00. They all either start at 6:00 or 8:00. 8:00 is too late for some people and 6:00 is very hard for some people to get to after work due to traffic. And one of the Saturday games is at 11:00 in the morning. These game times suck.

early in the season the games are on different days and you are in a football town. Sure it isn't hard to find out when the games are but promotion for the games should be better. If our offense keeps producing good results on the hardwood then the crowds will grow.

totally disagree. people will always show up for free stuff, especially students. season long promotions like halftime shootout type contests that give away good/big prizes would generate extra interest and make more students come. free 3 point cards for the first 2000 fans don't exactly cut it.

How? And I am not flaming…serious question. If you were a marketing guy at LSU and had a little bit of a budget to spend , what would you do to get people to come to the games right now?

Hire the football team to play at halftime

Get use to 6 and 8 games. It's called TV double headers... This isn't just an LSU thing, it's a college basketball thing.

Oh I fully understand the concept….but a lot of the fringe group that might otherwise come may decide that 6 and 8 are inconvenient. TV kills attendance at schools like LSU. At Kentucky/Duke, etc, they will come no matter what. Not so much here. It has to be convenient.

I think people make a ton of excuses. Look unlike football or baseball, weather shouldn't be a factor which is very convenient.
6 makes it tough, except the fact that you can park and walk so quickly that if you work in BR and get off work at 5 you can make it from practically anywhere.
The games are only 2 hours long so an 8 pm start ends at 10 and you can be in your car and off campus by 10:15.

have a season long promotion where you get one shot and can choose where you shoot it. win a koozie for a layup. t-shirt for a free throw. $25 gift card for a 3 pointer. tv for a half court shot, a car from the other free throw line. all star would have free advertisement at halftime and probably never have to give a car away. you could even have 3 or 4 people do it per game since 90% of the people who play in the contest cant even make a layup. no doubt more students would come if they knew there was a contest like that going on. the marketing team we have now doesn't even try.
