on a plane from New Jersey to Florida. He said they come to the US twice a year because they get FIVE AND A HALF weeks of vacation a year!! Must be nice.
"Employees are entitled to statutory paid annual leave of 5.6 weeks (28 days) for workers working 5 days a week. Bank or public holidays do not have to be given as paid leave, but you can choose to include them in your employees’ statutory annual leave."

Let's give 6 months of vacation a year. Make it mandatory

A friend of mine works for Nike. I think that they have a mandatory 6 week paid vacation every 2 years on top of their existing vacation.

I will get 5 1/2 weeks a year vacation in two years. That's not really that much.

I just left a job where I had 28 days. Down to 18 now. Will got back up to 23 at 5 years. That does not include holidays

Europeans do the vacation thing better than Americans. At my former company's office in the UK employees started with four weeks. It took me 15 years to get that much vacation time.

I only get a lil 6 hours of PL time a payperiod. That doesn't include the paid holiday hours I get(whether or not I work the holiday).
Thankfully, with only working 3 12s a week, I can easily schedule myself to have 8 days off without having to use any PL time. I do that frequently...even if I don't have plans to go anywhere.

I get 5 weeks plus holidays other than Christmas and new years (those are part of the 2 weeks the whole company gets off). It will go up to 6 this year with my 5 year anniversary.
Paid vacation should not be mandatory. The market should naturally run those companies that don't provide it out of business.

That sounds great but the US is WAY more productive than the vast majority of European nations (with the exception of Germany).

I think mine is 49 but I rarely use all of it and end up selling it back, I'm at the point to where I have more time off than I know what to do with, I get asked not to come to work pretty often

At my last job, I accrued 1.8 hours of PTO per pay period. It was so ridiculous. It took me a year to save up one week, which I took for my son to have surgery. And they acted pissy about me taking that. Then they wondered why all of their employees kept leaving.

I only get 5 paid vacation days.
But I do get every other Friday off.

Europeans care more about living life than accumulating "stuff".
