I have two good stands in the woods that were there when I bought the place. I disced up the small plot and planted a mix, put a feeder in but haven't checked either last couple weeks. Just haven't had time but from Thanksgiving on I can pay attention. Hope it pays off.

I have only been hunting the hardwoods while acorns are falling, but I killed a nice 7 point yesterday and he had some corn in his stomach. It was on the club, so it wasn't my corn he was eating, but he got it somewhere. Still, he was I the hardwoods.

Acorns would be correct! We hunt bottom land hard wood and the ground is covered. Buddy I lease with has been feeding coons and cardinals for 2 months now! Lol. Not 1 deer on camera.

Deer change their digestive track to handle protein, they can not digest corn at this time, this from a deer biologist from a huge deer and dairy farm in Wisky. Don't know when they change back though??

Check your feeder for any cracks at the top. If water is getting in there, it can cause the corn to rot while in the feeder. We had that problem at 1 of our stands a few years ago. We knew it was the feeder b/c only that stand was having a problem with deer traffic.

Feeders are good. New batteries, timers set, fresh corn. I've also thrown out some whole corn cobs in a couple areas where I don't have feeders. They ate a few a couple weeks ago, tracks everywhere but still corn.
Regarding the digestion, I was told they seek out the chicory I mentioned because it helps their digestion.

Yep, deer aren't eating my corn either in Tensas or Morehouse. Every deer I saw this weekend was dining on acorns.

Deer aren't eating my corn very good right now either in South Arkansas. Combination of 2 things.... MILLIONS of acorns and the rut. Every year about this time the activity over corn seems to slow down but usually when the acorns disappear they eat it good again. I typically try to keep a little feed out wherever I hunt but right now it doesn't seem to matter. If you aint in the hardwoods, you ain't gonna see many deer.

Yeah, I am not sure about what he told you.
Deer are throwing down carbs right now in preparation of winter. Acorns just taste better than corn.
