is this the mediocrity anyone wants?

Are you willing to settle for 10-3 being an "up" year and a few down years sprinkled in? Meanwhile some of our rivals are one win away from the playoff during their "down" year?

Someone needs to light a fire under Les or fire him. Personally, I don't think he has the chest or the sack anymore - he coaches scared on both sides of the ball. He coaches to protect his 4.2 million in compensation rather than to win championships.

Agreed. But unfortunately, the LSU administration is happy with 9-10 wins a year. They think it's worth the $4.2m per year. I don't get it. I think the program is broken and underachieves every year. Why else do we have mass quantities of juniors saying "I want to get the hell out of here" after every season? It's because les sells them a bill of goods when recruiting them, then they get in the program, see the poor player development and Gameday coaching and decide, I better get out now!!!

People are going to roast you for this, but I think it has to be a factor. If they are draftable or think so, they don't see another year at LSU as worth it from a development or achievement standpoint.

We are UGA with a more recent NC.

A "good man" as the coach whose teams are "competitive" for championships. I mean, until last week, there were possibilities LSU could get to the SECCG and the playoffs. Isn't that what you want? To be "in the conversation late in the season?

He never had the brains for the job. People thought he was quirky and funny when really he's just not a very smart guy.

We are done competing for championships under CLM. He's lost his spark.

No I want the product on the field to make sense given the talent and resources available. If that means 10-3 seasons because we can't get great talent but we make the best of it then great, I'll take it.
If It means 3-4 losses while having equal to or better talent than almost everyone you play and rarely having a functioning offense, that's not good enough.

This. Some people think that he can't be as stupid as he appears because he wins 9 or 10 games a year. He wins because he inherited a well-funded program in a talent-rich state and gets better talent than 90% of his opponents. That talent wins 80% of their games most years.

Face it. We should beat our 4 OOC opponents every year on talent alone. We should beat Ole Miss, Miss. St., aTm and Arkansas on talent alone. We should beat at least one of our East opponents on talent alone.

Winning 9-10 games a year should not be the goal, it should be the minimum. Even stupid, stubborn coaches like Miles can do that.

Just think what a smart coach could do here. Oh, that's right. We know what a smart coach could do here. He's doing it at Bama.

see the poor player development

If it were poor player development, how are so many kids getting drafted out of LSU?

You're basically saying they were good enough to jump from high school to the NFL

But he's such a funny quirky guy that talks in riddles and recruits errr sells the program well and has them in contention every year. What more do you want? Oh yeah and I'm sure we will see records thrown around here later today and for the next two week so I will start 78%

Many of them probably are NFL ready right out of high school, but, rules don't permit them to do so.

Most aren't ready out of college let alone high school.

How many college super stars have been busts in the NFL? How many studs don't see playing time for a year or two?

You are crazy if you think these kids are ready for the NFL at 18 years old.

I may have said that in the past, but you are right that it doesn't make sense to think that kids are getting here with high school ability, leaving with NFL ability, and not being developed while they are here.

But overall you think we do a great job of developing talent? I think it's specific to the position coach, personally. Some guys do a good job, others don't.

Les Miles never had a spark. He had someone else's players in his first three years. In those three years he won all 3 bowl games and only lost an average of 2 games. Since then he has lost 3 of 6 bowl games and is averaging 3.7 losses per year. Don't forget we have 2 more games.

I'm not a very smart man, but i would say this is a definite decline. I'm not advocating removing him but there is a problem somewhere.

combine beast. NFL drafts on potential not college production. We have freak athletes at LSU and the defense is well coached.
