any good places?

My girlfriend's cat acquired diabetes and I hear you can get insulin online for a fraction of what the vet charges.

Seriously? It's a cat, and not even your cat.

Most beta thread ever.

Ask local animal shelters or somebody at petfinder.com - WAAAY more likely to let you know someplace within your budget.

The Vet will have to recommend what type of insulin to get. Human insulin and the type given to dogs is not the same. ProZinc is a common brand for cats. You can get a pharmacy to compound insulin based on the Vet's requirement. (Like 90% bovine based and 10% pork based). Regardless, it's expensive and sooner or later you have to decide about the quality of the animal's life. My Dad's last dog was diabetic and he tried to keep it alive way too long. At the end stage, it was bleeding from its eyes.

The Vet will also probably change the diet to lower carbs and add more protein, likely beef and chicken, and probably use canned wet food instead of dry food.
