Just curious on what the RANT thinks NOW. I'll hang up and listen/read...... Try and keep your spin positive (if you can). We all know the offense needs improvement (where is the passing game?) and the defense is getting better and better. I think we're very close but not there yet.....

If Harris or Jennings improve half as much as Mett did from '12-'13, over the offseason we will be next season (barring injuries).

Our talent must be close because we hung with Alabama for 5 quarters.

As soon as Gary Patterson at TCU got out of the stone age offense, his team is scoring like crazy and playing great defense and bound for a Title. I'd like to see us go spread. First downs don't seem like a big deal for most of these teams.

I am worried that Chavis only signed a one year extension and we may be closer to having the same offense with a weaker defense.

I'd say about 12 points away. If the delta between how the team matures and what other teams lose becomes what is expected we will be a top 5 team for at least 2 weeks next year.

And TCU as it stands today has about as realistic a shot at the playoff by the end of the season as we do: none.

Badly need some QB development to get to that point. The better SEC teams are going to try to minimize LSU running game

Football team (as in for one year) or football program? I see a distinction.

This is why every lsu fan should be the biggest proponent for expanding the playoffs to 8 teams.

We could seriously do some damage in the playoffs and have a much better chance of getting in each year. Who knows how many titles we'd have already with this format

Chavis is a great D coordinator, but his late game D's really piss me off. I wouldn't be too upset if he left.

We are a top 4 team right now minus a QB. THAT QB is quite simply never going to be top 4 material.

Hence, we can hope the other guy is although there is no actual on field evidence to indicate that is the case. We can just hope.

If neither is, then we are a minimum of 3 years away.

If AJ improves AS MUCH as Mett did from this year to next, he still won't be as good as Mett was in '12. What are you smoking?

Mett completed 58% of his passes in 2012 for 2600 yards. Even if AJ blew up for 300 ypg in the next two, he would achieve a grand total of 1800 yards.

Sheesh.

And it would be saying that after next year Jennings would be an NFL quality qb which you have to be seriously smoking some good stuff if you believe that
